Duralite battery problem
I have 2 4000mah batteries. One I charged today with the duralite charger and the other would not turn on the charger light when plugged in. Here are the voltages I got when I checked the batteries with the Duralite battery voltmeter after charging/attempting to charge:
1st battery: 7.95 volts (no load) 7.14 volts (1 amp load) Was sitting on the shelf. 2nd battery: 7.92 volts (no load) 6.62 volts (1 amp load) In an aircraft. Per the instructions a fully charged battery should read > 8.2 volts and should read > 7.5 volts with a 1 amp load. I am falling way short of this considering it is charged per the Duralite charger. Any one else have bad results from using the Duralite charger? Thanks for any guidance. |

Both peak voltages are too low based on my experience with Duralights. I had EXACTLY the same problem happen to me last fall in one of my packs in my KingCat. It would read 7.9 volts but would drop way down once a load was applied. Went to charge it after the weekend and it would not turn on the charge light. I phoned Jack at Duralight and a replacement was sent out. I caught the bad pack on my PowerBox. Good thing I had two batteries or I woud have LOST my KingCat!

Same exact thing happend to me with 3 of my packs. I will try to contact duralight for replacement??

I just spoke with Jack and he is sending me a return authorization so they can test the cells. He said that the Li-Ions don't like not being used. It is said that cycling these batteries are not needed, but if they are going to sit in storage perhaps they should be cycled to give them the illusion of being "Used". Does anyone have a cycling regimen for Li-Ions, especially if not used for a while?
