8611A, any problems?

I am hearing that some people are having problems, loss of airplanes, with the JR 8611A servos.

No problems with my jets and my turbine heli. I am also using them on some of my gassers with no problems.

I have about 15 of the 8611A that I have been using in several airplanes with no problems at all. As far as I'm concerned they are a great servo. At $100 a piece they should be.

i have over 2 dozzed of these and all work just fine, however i know 2 people personally who had a few fail. Usually these failed new out of the box when setting up .. i trust these servos more than any other .

Hi.

I've used 8611A's for some time as the rest of the Danish gang does. I have heard of two cases where 8611A's have failed right out of the box. Other than that, I have not heard of 8611A failure. I trust them more than any other servo in my jets.

Hello

I have 16 pcs 8611A in my 1/1.7 scale Pitts S-1. No problem at this time.

RCAND: What is the problem that you have heard about? Could be interesting to know.

RE: 8611A, any problems?

What I have heard, have been failures, possibly due to the motor. Failures may have occured out-of-the-box, but I know of one very reputable person who had an in-flight failure, due to a bad motor. Luckily saved the airplane. I have 4 in my F-18F and if one of my elevators fail, the other elevator would act like a big aileron and the plane may not be saved. How about someone from JR jump in and let us know what is going on. Also, a friend of mine just lost his SM F-18 and was using 8611A's on the elevators. I was spotting for him when after 3 minutes of flight, he made a left turn, and you know you need to pull some elevator in the turn, but the plane kept rolling left and went in. Right aileron did not correct it. This was not the first flight on this aircraft either. No radio hit, and this crash is still a mystery, unless the 8611A was the problem.

I just got 5 8611a servos and not one will fit the JR servo Arms? Where can I buy arms that will fit my servos? Thanks

8611 servos have the same splines as all other JR servos .. ( i would suggest not using metal arms from H9 on these however as there is way too mush play around the splines.. I have had mush tighter set ups using Century servo disks .. a lot tighter .. )

I had one fail right out of the box last week.....Tom Dodgen pranged his KingCat a bit at MAB 2006 when an 8611A failed on one of his elevators......coincidence?

I will be outfitting my UltraBandit with the old reliable 8411's.....never had one fail in flight or on the ground since they first appeared some 6-7 years ago.....only ones I ever sent in for repair was for crash damage.....

Wojtek

There are actually 3 different output shaft that were used for a while on the JR 8611A.

The H9 arms can have a mismatch and strip itself if U have one of the smaller output arms.

The Latest Arms I am hearing are much better QC. My F15e almost lost the Stab because of this problem. There is info here on RCU about this very problem the owner of SWB advised me of it a few years back.
