I have the elevons version of the skymaster F22
I was thinking of getting rudders and an Aileron wing to slow the speed at which it lands and also I would rather have separate Ailerons. Has anyone any thoughts?

The F22 flys perfect with Elevons only. You would never know you didnt have ailerons.
Flaps are not needed either. When you pull the power back, the plane slows down pretty quick and can fly at slow speeds without stalling.

I agree with Shok. The ones with Flaps and ailerons I flew did not fly any better than the elevon version. If anything worse as they were carrying some extra weight. The trick with the YF-22 as with most jets of this type F-15/ F-18 the best approach is to keep the nose up and use this as aerodynamic braking. You can then balance this angle of attack with some extra power. It sounds strange that you are landing with a higher throttle setting but if done right slower.
Practice up high. Spend a flight slowing the model down and as you increase the angel of attack add extra power and then some more angle of attack, then some more power. Do this reasonably high as you can get it stalled and this can take quite a bit of height to get out off. Dont panic, open the throttle to full let the nose drop a little and it build up speed and then you can fly off.
I have seen people practice this and get to a stage where they have full throttle on and such a high angle of attack that they do not climb, just crawl along on the edge of the stall. Dont try to land this extreme but closer to it than with a flat type nose down approach.

What about when you want to build a scale one? If i was going to build an F-22 i was gone go for scale one with full functions and still i could land it as Ali says.[8D]

I think that is what 'ardisd' has in mind. He wants a full function scale flying model and not just a 'bank and yank' toy.

Thats what i thought 2 Dave, and i think thats going to be the best thing to do, and to be honest i am going to order one next week with full function. To have or not to have.;)
Even though we are not helping ardisd by all these i hope for him to make the plans he have in mind and make his plane the way he wants successfuly.
