Capitol Jets II, Albany NY Area.

Attention, Attention, Attention!

To all upper US based jet jocks:

Capitol Jets II is just two weeks away! We have re-aligned the runway to extract maximum use of the airspace over the core center of the airport!

By order of the Airport Commissioner;
All pilots are hearby cleared to operate turbine powered jet models as far north as you like from our show center and as far south from show center!

Futhermore, we have clearence to operate to our normal split-S required altitudes, or higher as neccassary, in order to provide our spectator crouds the best that money can buy them!

Remember this quote from a rather infamous movie? ("Goose. its time to buzz the tower")
Well, we can't do that! There is however an NDB antenna array abeam the control tower, it is possible that one of you guys will overfly that area, if you do we will apply the appropiate punishment -(Jet fuel/Turbine oil Runner Boy),and let you fly again.

Our new set-up is now on a smooth former taxiway that was used by the GE flight test center about 50 years ago! The actual dimensions are 45X2000 feet long!
Not sure but I think I got Frank Tianno beat by five feet on the runway width! Just kidding Frank- wish you were here too! Well, how's that for flying off hollowed ground guys?

Some of you have already checked in, some of you guys are dealing with property damage caused by heavy rains in the northeast, our prayers go out to you!
However, if your are OK, and able to attend please sound off so that I can reserve your space in the order of registration. My plan is to get first come first serve begining at show center and building out from there.

Don't forget to pack your waivers/documents for the authenticity checks.
Frank A Alvarez,
Capitol Jets CD

Hey Frank,

Any chance of getting buddy boxed on my Baby Boomerang so I can get my waiver qualifications done? I've had the plane a year and a half and haven't flown it yet, although I have burned up almost 5 gallons of K-1 on the ground just playing with it.

There isn't a lot of Jet activity here in New Hampshire.

Hello Bob,

I would not hesitate to bring your aircraft to the program, I will however try to connect you with one of the more experienced jocks on site. I however, may or may not be able to personally assist you.

As you know, this will be my first Capitol Jet event as primary CD. Last year I sat second fiddle to the great Mr. Art Arro, thats a guy that I've learned so much from in the years that I have known him.

Come on over, I'm sure that we can get you some buddy time, If I must I can delegate CD duties to Art while you and I burn up the sky together!

Take care,
Frank.

Frank,

I'll be coming with my Bobcat and maybe an F-16. I'm only able stay till Saturday night though as I have NASCAR tickets for Loudon on Sunday.

Max and Bob Jesse might also come but I think they are still up in the air.

Bob Radford

Hi Frank, Sounds like it's going to be more fun than last year. (don't know if that's possible!) Count me in! My wife Mary and daughter Rebecca will be tagging along this year. (why should I have all the fun).

As far as lodging goes, do you have any recommendations?

Hi Frank,
what is the runway direction or taxi way we are flying in, so I can check the winds before I leave.
Thanks,
Chris

Frank Alvarez 07-11-2006 10:31 PM

RE: Capitol Jets II, Albany NY Area.

Hello Chris,

The runway is aligned north and south, rather than the northwest and southeast we had last year. The wx forcast for the week end is very hot and humid, most likely with a southern flow.
Should be light wind and lots of hot muggy conditions. Bring lots of water!
Take care ,
Frank.

Hi Frank.
A few of us will be coming up on Friday. We should have one F-15 DF, One Turbine powered F-15, and a turbine powered Kangaroo. All jets have flown several times. The three of us need to get our qualification flight taken care of. When is the best time to do this? Will there be an opportunity to do this on Friday afternoon and Saturday?
Thanks!!
Dominic
