Help needed to find cheeper ceramic bearings for my KJ 66. having worked on this engine for over 2 years and modified the combustion chamber and nozzle guide vains along with the fuel ring . I am now able to get a very reliable 32 pounds of thrust out of this engine at 187500 rpm . but the bearings are not as good as I would like them to be. I also would like to know how others are lubricating these bearings to give total reliability.

many thanks Doctor Jason

Sorry I can't help you with finding bearings, but I just had to say YIKES 187500 ??????
Doesn't the entire back end of that thing glow bright orange at that rpm??

187500 rpm and 32Lb thrust!!!! what turbine wheel are you using as most 66mm wheels are only rated at 120000?

I'm building a kj66 and would be happy with 19 to 20 Lb thrust.

Andy..

How much fuel is it burning at 187500 rpm at 32lbs of thrust?????

187,500 RPM!!!!!!!!

would have thought the self destruction rpm of the compressor and turbine wheel is well below that.

Thrust 34+ lb @ 122K RPM
Residual thrust 1.2 lb
Weight 3.33 lb including starter
Diameter 4.37"
RPM Range 33K to 122K RPM
EGT 670c
Fuel consumption 16 fl oz/min at full power

You are doing way too much rpm to produce 32 pound of thrust.
the turbine wheel and compressor need to be modified to give more thrust .Your turbine wheel and compressor probably stall or stop producing power at 144,000 rpm. Do not kill yourself.
