Ailerons vs. Elevons on F-15

Hi,
I have decided to finish a Byron F-15 that I have been working on for the last 2 years. The original DF configuration has been scrapped for a turbine and it is 90% complete. The dilemma I have is that the original called for ailerons and the instructions were quite adequate for making effective ailerons but I am considering going solely with elevons for control the same way as the Avonds F-15. Any insight or recommendations on either configuration would help in the determining the route I choose. Thanks

RE: Ailerons vs. Elevons on F-15

I guess I am "old" school as I don't trust Elevons as the only flight controls. If you lose one servo ,or linkage from one servo, you have no chance to save the aircraft. With ailerons AND elevator control you may have a chance. Besides on a plane that big what are you saving. Weight don't matter. Money on servos?, not when the price of the turbine is involved.

Food for thought.....................

Good reasoning Terry. I have several of the high torque servos dedicated to this plane so cost savings was not my original thought but rather "simplicity of design". I do believe as you do that dedicated ailerons are the way to go and I am leaning that way......thanks for reply BTW.
