No problem, I believe the range is actually about from 10 to 10.5" but the suggested sweet spot is 10.3

Has anyone tried a Ram 500X on one? Will weight be a problem?

Couple of guys on here with JetCat P80's, can't think the Ram is any heavier????

The Ram 500 is much smaller than the P-80. I don't know about weight, but i have both i'll have to remove the P-80 and then i'll weigh them.

I have the Robart Retracts that will fit BobCat 52 as I have and bought two sets fro some reason and I don't see a need to keep both. If anyone is interested in a Brand new set of retracts let me know. I paid $144 plus shipping. Willing to let go for $125 shipped.

Could only get one of the non-retract ready versions. Anyone have any idea how much work to self mod it to accept retracts? Is it worth it?

Did not know they even made a non retract? got any pics?

Image one shows the wing. I haven't cut out the covering to expose the servo mounts, but the area where the retract would go is only a thin opening for the piano wire.
The other images show the interior of the nose that would normally be cut out to accommodate the retract. As you can see there are no blocks on which to mount the cylinders. I also show the underside of the nose. Again, no cutouts.

The internal structure looks completly different from the retract version, what wing span is this one?

Wingspan is 51 inches. The below image shows the entire model (stock photo from general hobby), but the same color scheme that I have NIB.

Ahhh this is not the one that has been converted to turbine and constitues most of this thread, the one most are converting are the same as the Falcon 120 and is much bigger, perhaps an enquiry in the "Extream Speed" thread may bring some results.

I have a non retract bobcat also. The landing gear is WEAK. I have a set of retract also. I am considering installing or bending my own wire. At the very least a retract unit for the nose gear. Would not have to retract, but would work waaaay better than stock.

So what size turbine are you going to use in this version.

I bought it used with an OS on it. It flies well, only problem is hte weak landing gear. Every landing results in a re-bending of the mains. Not hard landings either. Just a long taxi without take-off they are bent back. Very poor design.

I think you may have better luck with a post on the "Extreme Speed Prop Planes" forum rather than in the "RC Jets" forum, however you can get olio's that grub screw onto piano wire, these may work if you cut your existing wire legs, or bend new ones, lots of people make them including Robart.

Its not scale, just put a pilot in that looks right to you.

Is that an EDF setup?

IMPNZ 07-11-2010 03:35 PM

RE: Nitro models pusher Bobcat?

Yes, I'm building it as an EDF.

looking at mine I would say it would fit a 1/6 scale pilot in this

RE: Nitro models pusher Bobcat?

That should work out very well, keep us posted how it goes. I had the 50 size Bobcat with similar colors and wanted to do the same to try and get more speed. Should be interesting. What motor/fan combo you using if you don't mind me asking?

RE: Nitro models pusher Bobcat?

I'm building it around a Schubeler DS51 even though there's enough room to get a 100mm fan in there, I may go with an ARC 3675 but haven't really made my mind up on a motor choice at the moment, there's still a fair amount of work to be done before I'm ready for the power system.
I'm not really building it with the intention of being a hot rod, I was just sick of the generic choices of 90mm EDF's on the market so decided to do something a bit different.
