It's alive and well and residing in So Florida. It is brought in by Modellbau-USA in Ft Lauderdale. It has been updated with longer booms and new paint schemes. Call Alberto there and he will give you all the info. 954-476-5572

RE: Where'd the Tango Go?
Modellbau-usa was carrying it. At least a newer version of it. I know they just got a shipment of Storms in but don't know about the Tangos.
Give Alberto a call. The number is on the website www.modellbau-usa.com BC darn typos[:@] |
RE: Where'd the Tango Go?
I love the Tango. It taught me how to be a jet pilot and I got my waiver with one.
You will be very happy with it...it's a great jet. Beave |
RE: Where'd the Tango Go?
How do you feel the tango compares to the Rookie.
I know it is cheaper and i think it can fly on a smaller motor than the rookie. How about it flight and landings. Thanks! PST |
RE: Where'd the Tango Go?
Hi,
I never flew a rookie, but can tell you the Tango is a great jet. We had a PST-600 in it and am in the process of installing a brand new Super Bee in it. It tracks quite well, does everything aerobatic you would want to do, and with crow lands quite slowly. You will be very happy with one. Beave |
RE: Where'd the Tango Go?
The original tango had a nasty habit of spinning in, due to the booms being to short. This caused the airflow to the elevator being blocked by the wing at certain angles of attack, leading to terminal loss of control. A number of them were lost, including mine. I think Todd had a video of his crashing due to this problem.

RE: Where'd the Tango Go?
Yes, the original Tango was a piece of cr_p. Besides the spin issue mentioned above, mine was delivered with one wing longer than the other by a significant amount, two sets of left hand control surfaces (ail & flaps), built in significant differences in wing incidence right/left, crooked booms (both looking in the Z direction and X), and many, many more issues that I can not now remember. I still feel like a fool that I did not send it back to Planes Plus. It was a turd of stellar proportions. Let's just say that the factory's Quality Control made Jet Joe look good.

RE: Where'd the Tango Go?
How is the new Tango? Does it still have the same problems? Can it fly with a Ram 750? or is that to much weight?
|
RE: Where'd the Tango Go?
My Tango is the new one (the one sold by Modelbau-USA) and flies great . I have over 100 flights on mine with no problems other than me being a crap pilot. I have rung the crap out of it too and found not one problem with it at all.
My friend is flying his with a P-80 and it goes like bloody hell so I would not think it would cause any problems but just to be sure I would check with Modelbau first. RE: Where'd the Tango Go?
If its basically the same size as the original turd, a RAM 750 would be perfect for it. I'd want to see one in person first to verify all of the things wrong with it had been corrected to my satisfaction. The old one was THAT bad!!!

Look at post #4, the 3rd picture. That's it. Getting the Super Bee conversion as we speak.

Yeap Todd had the old Tango then I rebuilt his and got a new set of booms and had the same issue. At a certin AOA and speed this TURD would just snap over, just awful. I would never take the challange again to rebuild or buy one. This design needs alot of improvments.

RE: Where'd the Tango Go?
David,
Sorry to hear you seem to dislike the Tango so much. Mine is quite fine, flies great and does not display any of the bad habits you seem to have run into. Sounds like you had the CG set too far back. Beave |
RE: Where'd the Tango Go?
nope the CG was set dead on and remember this happen twice to the same plane. at a certin AOA it just blanks out the horizontal control. just a bad design.
Todd had this jet originally at FLJI when he first got it and it flew great if you flew around in a basic cirle. but as soon as you went to climb at a certin AOA it snaps and this was with plenty of air speed. Bevar you said you learned on the Tango was it the older one or the newer one that you say they make now. Will you be attending FLJI, I will be there for the duration of the event, I sure would like to see what the improvements where. |
RE: Where'd the Tango Go?
David,
I will be at FIJR all four days too so stop by and look for yourself. This is a new one purchased from Modelbau-USA and is just fine. No AOA problems here and I have tested it to the hilt. Beave |

the plane its far from be a good quality, but its sturdy and flys very well, my firts fly was done in a very simple way , no brakes no struts the retracts was a spring air HD set i has it , the firt landing was a rought , it bended the landing gear 3/16 wires almost 25 degress and the block and wood parts stay in place peocjets |
RE: Where'd the Tango Go?
The Modellbau-USA ones have literally flown thousands of flights a tthe local park here which is nearby Modellbau. I don't have one but have seen them fly continuously for about the last 2 years. Literally, I know one person that logged over 700 flights on his. Another friend I am sure logged much more than that....non stop flying with those guys and they didn't baby them just flying circles. None had that issue of the death spin that was associated with Todd's Tango from planes plus.
Just my unbiased observance of all the flights locally. Most of the guys have none transitioned from the Tango to the Modelbau-USA Storm. I know of 3 that have done that and gotten into the larger turbines. Mark |
