As the old saying goes"You get what you pay for" Deals like this don't exist.
There you go.
Someone once said, quite brilliantly:
"You can't cheat an honest man."

Cons know that what works best is to appeal to the dishonest side of the guy getting conned. Almost always, there is some scammy factor on the part of the guy getting conned.
Like wanting to get a Kingcat with a P-120 for $2000. Whoever goes for that KNOWS that the plane must be stolen, or some sort of similar issue. You KNOW the plane is worth three times that, or you would not be paying $2k for it.
Same with the Nigerian oil scams, the fake casheir's checks made out for an amount three times more than the item is worth(just keep the difference!), most scams in general...the person being scammed thinks THEY are going to take advantage of somebody. They are not innocent either.

If you consider that paypal is an internet bank they are doing their job "banks do not lose money" but nobody wants to lose either so the best precaution is follow their instructions and always pay using a CC.

Hi ET. I had suspicions about my P160, so I gave Jetcat the serial number & it checked out ok. I also had Jetcat upgrade the V5 ECU to the latest specs when I was at the Jetpower show in Germany. I cannot understand how these turbines are so cheap.
Maybe Jetcat is offloading spare capacity as far as possible from Germany???
The instructions were in German.

Regards

Jim
Did they say who they sold it to?
I mean, it's awfully suspicious.
I cannot understand how he gets his stuff, either. I just do not know.

Well said.
Sorry that YOU got caught up in all these scams, it costs YOU for sure. People will always associate you with the scammers. Nothing you can really do about it, you just got unlucky.

No. Jetcat just told me it was manufactured in the last 6 months.
I think I dealt with the same guy you mentioned. His feedback had some high priced items listed.

Jim

The guy is selling all kinds of big ticket items. Might be worth asking him if he has any more turbines.

That's really interesting, it really is.
Could be it fell off a truck(container ship!), but maybe it was legitimately bought from Jetcat. I cannot say.
I can say, though, that these items are probably selling for below their wholesale cost.
He sold at least four or five P-80s for $1400 or so. The cheapest retail I have ever seen on those was Jetcat Spain for $2195. I don't KNOW the wholesale price on a P-80, but I'd guess it's considerably more than $1400. Don't forget the ebay fees and all that.
So...who has a business of selling stuff for less than wholesale? How does that work?
Maybe this is a money-laundering arm for some of the more prominent Indonesian scammers?
At any rate, it just does not all add up.
Keep in mind that all of the above is speculative, all supposition, I KNOW nothing.
In spite of the fact that his feedback all checked out, and I felt pretty confident that I would be getting a NIB P-80 as advertised, I did not bid, in the end. It just felt like it was a little too good to be true, that SOMEONE was being had somehow.

Does anybody remember what his previous ebay name was?

Click on ID history. It lists 3 names he has used. All include the words Zona Merah.

The previous guy was e-sander.
http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAP...serid=e-sander
I'd be 99% sure it's the same guy.
Notice everything was going great, then he crashed and burned with seven negatives, and has private feedback. I'd bet that private feedback is very revealing as to what is really going on with this stuff.

RE: Beware of the KingCat Scammer!

I'd be pretty sure that if someone reported to the right department at ebay that they suspect zonah merah and e-sander to be the same person, ebay would confirm that I am right and suspend zona merah.
Me, I ain't doing it, that's ebay's job!

Could be the same guy. If it is, he has been using both names at the same time for a year or two.

Must admit - that was exactly my reaction on first reading this thread.

Seems to me that an RTF Kingcat with a P120 for $2k is quite likely to be (a) Clearly a scam, (b) Stolen, or (c) Some poor widow selling off her hubby's gear without knowing what the value of it is. I wouldn't want to be taken by (a), and I'd want no part of taking advantage of someone else's misfortune via (b) or (c).

You got it.
The widow thing...I have bought out a lot of estates, let me tell you, I have seen MANY times where someone's best buddy "helps out" the widow by taking the stuff off her hands for pennies on the dollar. You'd be surprised at how cheaply people will sell their souls!
Any way you slice it, though, the reason why these scams are successful is because the buyer is complicit. He thinks HE is taking advantage of someone. The Nigerian oil money scams, same thing. Some assjack thinks he is going to get a cut of $20 million. He KNOWS the money is not legit, that it belongs to the People Of Nigeria or whatever. That's the hook. Cons know this.
Human nature being what it is, people still fall for it EVERY DAY, which is why you still get so many of these offers and emails. Because they WORK. They aren't new...the Nigerian scams, the overpayment with a fake certified check, all these are classics that go back decades, way before the internet.

You forgot option "E", divorcee looking for vengance. I would buy the state from her, and bring a bottle of Champagne too. :D

Yeah my fiancee would sell my stuff on me too and were not even married! It's why I try not to fight with her when I'm not home. She would either sell it or smash it! Irish women!
