Cheap and simple trainer

I am going to open a big can of worms here and ask what is the best trainer for turbine power (12 pound thrust). Looking for something cheap and simple. This will be my first turbine just want to keep it simple.

I would suggest either a baby boomerang or a facet, both are easy to build and fly.

Thanks for the sugestions guys. How about something from plans? I have plenty of wood could use money saved for servos, brakes, ect. Shouls of said that in the first post.

If you're into kit bashing I recommend an Enforcer. It might not be quite as simple as some of the pure trainers, but it's a lot more fun to fly and is cheap.

Below is a couple of pictures of my first turbine, which is still going strong after 145 flights.

Also here's a link to my build thread

The cheapest and simple plane is a Bobcat pusher for $129
converted to turbine(jet joe JJ1400 fixed gear), you can
not buy glue, wood, covering that cheap. A new Jet Joe is
around $800 with the manual ECU and flightwork pump and
thermocouple costing about $300. You can use normal servos
except the elevator where one JR DS821 will do. The plane
is rock solid and easy, but super fast, to fly. See the article
in this months RCJI.

You might want to read the JetJoe thread before you plunk down your money.
If you're into building/rebuilding/modifying engines, then JJ is for you.
If you want to just fly, you might want to look at other, more reliable engines.
Good luck!

I don't know how you can beat the x-treme jets A10x. It includes

fuel Tank,
Retracts-
struts,
Wheels,
tires
brakes,
air valves,
2 air bottles,

All for $595

That A-10X is hard to beat.

I'd stay away from Jetjoe. With all of the modifications and fixes required just to get one to start and run, I have zero confidence that one would ever make it to 25 hours.

The Balsa USA kit retails for $111. The kit I used to make mine was bought at a swap meet for $40. I had to buy covering, retracts, wheels/brakes, and radio gear, and you do need some building skills to make the modifications. I don't have an exact total but after buying a used Ram 500 for $1000 I was able to build the Enforcer shown in post #8 for significantly under $2000.
