Possible pilot types

Hello fellas,

Im wondering , If you had your choice of a new pilot doll for your cockpits....BBI quality, but with a much lighter wired foam body. what would be your choice? I was working on a russian doll for my own use,.... 1/6th scale is what im working in, but it occured to me to get some feedback on other types. a eurofighter for the eurosports perhaps? any other suggestions?

I believe many scale fans want the pilot doll of BBi quality but smaller scale, like 1/8 to 1/9.!/6
scale pilot doll is to big to most scale model.

Bela,
Your post was timely! I am searching for a scale pilot figure for my latest project, the TEAM AMERICA jet.
One of the pilots was the leader Chris (image attached). An alternate would be the real Team America leader.
I hope to have it ready for Florida Jets.:D

Hi Bela,

That's exactly what I make - lightweight versions of the bbi/dragon/21st centruy pilots, both wire/foam or floppy rag doll versions.

I also add r/c heads which link into your aileron/rudder channel via a 'Y' lead. I can get up to 3 servos working together - arm for salute, head up/down with elevator, and head left/right with aileron or rudder

Sadly the exchange at the moment does make them a little pricy , but I do have ALL pilots in stock, and can make up some civilian and some one off's

Cheers

Mark

Mark,

How about putting some pictures of the jet pilots you have available on your web page. I've looked at it before, but I was under the impression that all you had were the Mig and WWII RAF pilots. You're prices aren't that bad for a scale model, but I'd really like to see what they look like before I'd lay out the $'s for one...

If you were to make 1/7th and 1/8th pilots you'd have my business. Oh yea, how about some Canadian stuff!!!!

Hey guys,

You're right it would be nice to get some more pilots illustrations on the web, trouble is I rely on a mate to put the web together, and don't like to push the friendship too far!

Sadly I'm not up to making the smaller scales just yet, as it gets harder to maintain the scale in terms of weave, buckles etc. but I have been talking to someone about building 1/4, but again tooling is an issue for such relatively low volumes.

As for details of other pilots, the idea is if you email me from the web site ([email protected]), I can email you the full data sheet, so let me know which ones you are interested in (MiG 15, F-86, F-14, F-15, F-18, F-117 and GW Bush (F18), and I'll send you the data sheets like the ones on the web site.

I can also send the civilian and accessories pages to.

Hope this helps,

cheers and thanks for the nice comments,

Mark

well, again, its bbI quality, not BBI dolls, so they are being done totally from scratch. ok so, so far im getting that most would prefer a smaller scale than 6th, and that a canadian pilot would be of interest. modern canadian right? what cockpit would he go in? any other suggestions? Jetboy, that team america figure is really cool. were you looking to have actual hair as well?

Bela,
Hair would be great on Chris otherwise folks might think he was me!
Merry Christmas,

Yep, Modern Canuck would be awesome for everything from F-18's and F-5's to F-86's. I'm wanting one for my Skymaster F-18 right now but in the future who knows. Really, the same everything except insignia could be used for anybody NATO so it wouldn't be a hard stretch. Thanks for taking note

some of the head sculpts im working on i will post some pics soon. but im trying to get a way from the tom cruise prettyboy look and the germanic head types that dragonmodels makes. im wanting to do more charactor and expression, and since there arent toys, less time put into the body, and more into the head sculpt, and pilot variety. bbi has the american scene covered, and well done. dragonmodels has a german fetish, so Im looking for other themes. unfortunately, most of the jets are american, so unless i adopt a smaller scale, american, isnt an option. wat do u think about russian pilots in smaller than 6th scale?

I thought I would post a couple pics of the first in a series of 6th scale head sculpts. the first few charactors will be russian flanker and fulcrum pilots. this first guy is "Alexei"

I have a long way to go on him but her is what i have so far. please let me know what you think.
