RCPete,
Looks interesting! I too am looking for a generator. Specs of the Duropower closely match that of a Honda unit.

Lets see IF anybody has one and posts a reply specific to your request.

Merry Christmas Pete!

Not sure "I get it!" We have a link to a generator in the first post that rcpete is asking about.

I've added the boldface...

I'm SURE I understand this as a question to any owners of it.

Just listed some places where he could find the Duropowers. I have also added a Honda site. Please pardon my efforts and trying to help.

Hey Pete,

I'll probably be getting one next season . It will especially be useful for charging large , high power electrics . I'm leaning towards the Yamaha equivalent to the Honda . The price of the "knock off" looks tempting but I'll pay the extra and go with the name brand with quieter operation.

HI Marc, their both rated at 56dba, if they are identical, why not go for the cheaper one.

My buddy has the 1000 Watt yamaha. It is very quiet, but it seems to be too small for battery charging..it takes forever!

If I were buying one, I'd be looking at something a little more skookum.

I have a Honda 1000 and it works great. If I were to do it over again, I would go for a 2000. A friend in Dallas bought a Honda 2000 knock off for about half the price and it works great. Not sure what brand it is. DB ratings were the same as the Honda.

Just ordered a Honda 2000 yesterday $965 Shipped FedEx and no sales tax - http://www.wisesales.com/

Forget about the knock-off's. I bought one last summer and it lasted about 15 hours before it self destructed.

RE: Honda generator

Hey guys!
I have owned both the Honda and Yamaha generators. Both are fantastic. I bought the 2400 watt Yamaha because it could also power a small AC unit. I have known a few guys that have purchased the knock-offs (no names come to mind immediately, but they had a yellow case) and the biggest problem they had was getting them started. Both the Hondas and Yamahas will start first-pull without exception, or until the temp drops below 30 degrees. The others had a hard time time in nice weather and rarely started at all below 30. You can't go wrong with either the Yamaha or the Honda. The Yamaha is about 3 decibels quieter. Neither are cheap.

I have a Honda 3000ie. Not exactly portable, I keep it chained up in my truck for work. What sold me was electric start. It also has eco throttle. You push a button and the rpm's drop really low. It will only rev up enough to run whatever you need. I don't think the smaller ones offer elec start. You can't go wrong with the Honda. If I get a smaller one, it will be a Honda. If I didn't need it for work, and only used it occasionaly, I may opt for the cheaper knock off.
