Hi Wojtech,
I sell the bbi /Dragon and 21st centruy pilots BUT, I convert them into lightweight, and then offer an r/c head and arm option. To see the two versions in action, check these links to the videos on my web site http://www.scaleaircrewsupplies.co.u...es/movie_a.wmv . http://www.scaleaircrewsupplies.co.u...es/movie_b.wmv cheers all Mark Scale Aircrew Supplies |
RE: show us your pilots !!
Mark, i have seen your stuf ... very cool ..
hey, how feasable would it be to put into production somthing like MrMatt did ?? I started building my own, and messing with a basic stamp ... i think Matt has his mixed to the rudder channel to afect the programed animation as well ... http://www.rcuvideos.com/view_video....07cacd8e2f2aef id pay good money for a prebuilt controller for something like that ! RE: show us your pilots !!
Hi Wojtek,
Mr Matts are impressive. It would be straight forward enough, but would require a little more space. My 3 servo version that gives the same movement as Mr Matts have all the servo's contained within the existing chest cavity, so more space would be required for the circuit board. The circuit boards need programming by a PC or lap top, and can run up to 12 channels including sound, and run pre-recorded movements for up to 28 minutes. I have stuck to the proportional versions purely to keep costs down, for to add another $100 to the price would make them so costly, and it would kill the US market all but dead (It's hard enough with the £ being so strong). Having said that, demand for my standard r/c versions is continuing to grow. They all function well through 'Y' leads giving live proprtional movement, with a mixer 'flick' giving a good salute/head turn with the 3 channel version. I have looked at getting these mass produced in China, but the economy of scale is so huge, the market isn't big enough in any one scale to justify it. The pre recorded version is very useful for 1/6 scale tanks, as the weight is no longer an issue, and it allows the head to turn independently , as quite often the turret would be facing in a different direction to that of the tanks travel, making it difficult to decide which live movement to tie the head action with - turret or steering. Vince Abbott (www.vincesgallery.smugmug.com) he who did the animatronics for the Jurasic Park trilogy, Muppets Treasure Island, Kangaroo jack, Charlie and the Chocolate factory, Babe amongst many other films, has done some excellent tank crews using these boards, including throttle sensitive engine sounds that are now becoming popular in aircraft. Have a look at his video (http://www.vincesgallery.smugmug.com...103/3/20262543 ) shows all 4 tank crew and sound in action. The main challenge for me is to get my Hurricane in the air, and set a camera over the pilots shoulder to see him flying the plane....One day! cheers all Mark Scale Aircrew Supplies |

ORIGINAL: afterburner [:-]ARE THOSE REAL??[:-] Marty ORIGINAL: Gordon Mc Hmmm .... I think I need to buy another plane just to justify buying one of these - what is she, and were d'ya get her ? :D I find Ebay has been the absolute best place to look for pilot actions figures … I have several of the hard to find BBI f-15 and F-18 figures from there .. ( if anyone wants , I have 2 spare extras , so PM me if interested ) … When trying to adapt actions figures ( like my anime chick in the BobCat ) its sometimes hard figuring out how big they are, so as to look in proper scale to the airplane .. the other item of concern is how “pose-able” the figure is … in the case of this one here, it is made of vinyl and meant as a static display .. nothing moves ( afterburner: I guess that should answer your question :D) … I was able to bend some parts with some heat application … there are also vinyl and resin kits available for collectible action figures … you will find a lot of Japanese themed figures around, as well as tons of super heroes … Check out McFarlen toys, and some of the related action figure forums … there are also a lot of “character” figures available …. In 1/6 scale I have seen anything from Husein and Osama, to snoop-dog and Fredy-cougar … I will see if I can post some links later today when back from the office … i always like the idea of having a plane set up around a particular "theme" .. pilot figure selection is crucial to making a complete package imho .... Of course if the plane is somehting scale, ( or scalish ? ) an appropriate millitary, or civilian pilot would have to be used .. By the way as you can see, I did buy the Jason Vorhese figure for one of my prop planes, but ended up regretting it after he killed off all the other pilot figures in the shop http://image.rcuniverse.com/forum/up...25/Lj22397.jpg later guys Voy |
