Shipping to Canada?
Hi I'm looking for the best and secure way to ship an engine to Alberta, Canada. Can not get any quote in the UPS website for this shipping. FedEX looks expensive. Global Priority got reasonable quotes but don't know is this last way is secure. Also need some info about about customs in sending turbines to Canada. Thanks in advance.

I'll dealt with other items going UPS. Shipping an engine you have to deal with customs (GST), and brokerage fees through UPS. UPS does their own brokering and it can be expensive depending on the item. Get insurance for lost or damaged goods.

RE: Shipping to Canada?
Morning Alejandro
Suggest you do not ship by UPS to Canada. Their handling charges are outragious. Their will be no customs duties to be paid. But the Federal Sales Tax (GST) of 6% is required. In Alberta there is no Provincial Sales Tax (PST). Not bring rich and famous I have my stuff shipped by USPS and our Posties here charge 5.00 (Can) to collect the fee. cheers don dow |
RE: Shipping to Canada?
Thank guys. I'd being told that the safest way is to send it US Postal Global Priotity. I will check with them to see how it works. Their rates are even with the pakage I want to ship including the insurance. I was told that if I send it as a gift is more easy for the buyer to get it and the duty fee is less exensive that way. But still need to fill out the customs declaration and the original invoice have to be with the forms. I don't know is the total cost of the engine will affect the procedure here. Anyone do this before?

RE: Shipping to Canada?
Morning again Alejandro
Be careful on the use of a "Gift" description unless it fits into a small mailbox. Again I mention there is no duty but tax to be paid and in this case only GST. cheers don dow |
RE: Shipping to Canada?
It is not worth trying to deceive customs...they were not born yesterday and will open the package and put there own value on it, or may just seize it if they get suspicious...it is not worth it!!! Put an honest price on it and declare it as Hobby goods, or Model Airplane parts....
Use priority mail ...decent service and by far the lowest rates...... |
