Combat Models f-15 Eagle
 

Hey, I have a Combat Models F-15 that I bought years ago. A hot .45 pusher is what it calls for can someone recomend a light weight one. How do they fly. Any nasty flight charictoristics? I have not flown a jet ever. I can fly anything else so I should be able to handle it. Were is the balance point on this jet? Thanks

Have you thought about going electric with it? You would be able to come out way lighter that way. Good news is if you can fly that bird, you can fly ANY jet.

I considered modifing it to electric ducted fan. I have never done a DF project and I am told if it is not ducted and plumed perfect it won't fly. If I wasn't worried about screwing up a perfectly good airplane I would do it in a second. The plane is built very light so it is a good candidate. It was not glassed like they recomend it was smoothed with light weight putty and painted. very light but not as durable.


What would it take to go Eletric DF (brushless of course). If I make the jump to electric I want to get away from a prop all together and electric DF would be my first choice since styrofoam airframes and turbines aren't the best combo:D

That plane is completely unsuitable for DF. By the time you finish completely redoing the inside to accomodate ducting, and figuring out how to not lose a bunch of thrust blowing past that big tube that runs through the tail, you might as well have built a real DF. That plane is perfect for electric pusher with a brushless hot motor.

Which motor batteries and speed control would be best suited for it. Inrunner or outrunner. Any idea whay kind of run times I might see?
