Ok Finally got some pictures.
First I'll start with the vehicle hitch pictures. I didn't have a hitch so that is where I started.
Depending on what hitch you buy, you may have to drill your car up.
Looks as if the hitch is actually mounted to the trunk floor (where the spare is housed)...is this the location the hitch manufacturer intended?? The reason I ask is usually the hitch is mounted to bumper brackets or the actual bumper (not the bumper cover). The location your hitch is mounted is not actually a "load bearing" area. Not trying to rain on anyones parade...I'd just hate to see you loose your load!!!
No, it's a sound logical question. Yes, of the many varieties available, for this particular hitch model that is where the manufacturer has intended for the mounting. Of course, you have to abide by the hitch and the vehicles load ratings! Now while this may or may not be satisfactory for some, having worked on dozens of vehicles, I believe in extra reinforcement and took extra meausres and modified the mounting areas to handle any stress I could possibly put on the vehicle.
To me it was common sense.
