Jet weight

Hi,

I need to know which the weight limit a jet can have for a turbine of 14lbs? A jet of 18lbs has good flight with 14lbs turbine?

Thanks

Fabio

I will keep the weight to 1:1.5 to 2 ratio. For high lift airframe, you can go to as high as 1:2.5. That's it, 14lbs turbine will power a jet up to 2.5 times its thrust rating. 1:1 ratio will give you ballistic performance. I fly my Avonds F15 at 8kgs and F9F Panther at 11kgs with 5kgs thrust turbine.

I have flown a Roo at 16.5 lbs with a Simjet1200 @ about12lbs thrust. Flys pretty good like that.

ok..

Thank you B777 and Gary !!!

Type of airframe is also very important. Kangaroo is high lift and will fly nicely even with small thrust. I also fly my Kangaroo with 12 lbs J600 turbine. Take Mig21 and you will need 1:1 ratio to get airborne.

Yes I agree B777,
I also flew a Cermark MB339 with the same engine and about the same weight. Performance was marginal to say the least.
I guess airframe selection is what its al about

On the contrary, our Cermark MB339 flies nicely with the J600 pushing 12lbs thrust as measured with scale on the nose. Do you get 12lbs or more when installed with the tail pipe? You may need to adjust the cone/pipe clearance to get the optimum thrust.

Fabie,
Did you get the FADE unit yet?
Thanks

Exists some rule or specifications for tailpipe? For a good performance, they exist measured special of pipe for a turbine of 14lbs? Type length and diameter? Adjust?

Thanks.
