Comp ARF Flash
 

I was in Motors and Rotors this morning, and they have 2 Flash kits for sale. What are peoples' views of this model, which I would power with a P80?

you can find dave here also just as much as at the shop.....;)


i think the combo is ok

powered with a Wren supersport is better. (less weight , more power less fuel)
but then for the price these p80,s going for you cant lose.

Hi Roger,

The combination would be fine. I have a mercury HP in mine and whist there is plenty of power for tarmac operations, if I was regularly flying off grass I would like a little more. At the last count 7 other club mates have flown mine and they all really liked the way it flew.

In fact Roger if I remember correctly you are currently flying a Rookie? If so, then the Flash will be easier to fly!

Hi Geoff,

You have a good memory - yes I'm flying a Rookie and I'm interested to hear that the Flash will land more easily, especially as last time out I thought I had nailed the Rookie's landings.

It's all positive stuff so far.

Roger,

I have a few flights on my P120 powered T'bird Flash now and can recommend the aeroplane.

It all depends what you want from an R/C jet. If you are looking for a jet that is simple to put together on the field and looks and performs well, and is good value for money, then the Flash fits the bill. Not too sure about a P80 though, especially if you want to operate from a grass site - go for the P120 or 'just Booster it'!

I was talking about trailing link main legs-just because they are easier on the gear and mounts.
There are a couple of sets available

For really smooth grass and a good length strip the std legs are fine

Well on my first takeoff with my new FLASH I was about to rotate and the right 6mm pin shattered in my C_ARF supplied BEHOTEC langing gear and I had to abort. There was no damage to the plane but my heart rate is still slightly above normal. I was thinking that some softer wheels and/or some trailing link main struts (like JETA1) would be better on grass which here is always slightly rough

Check out the write-up in the current issue of JetPower. I think it will fly fine on the 80. A friend has a 120 in his and it is a spectacular performer with this engine. Weight will likely be between 24-25 pounds dry, so a P80 will give you a little less than 1 to 1 and a 120 will be slightly better. Do get the optional wing fuel tank in either case.
