Smooth Stop Help
I need a little help getting a SS set up.
Installed per BVM instructions. Throw amount seems correct. Using aux 3 (10x) slider. System holds pressure w/ no leaks Problem is that even at 100 psi it only starts to apply brake pressure when the slider is at 75% or so. Below this the brakes are off. Is this normal (never used the smooth stop before)?? Thanks in advance W.G. Hunter |
Smooth Stop Help
Hello,
Does the large brass tube that the push rod and airline go into move out with the pushrod? The tube should track the movement of the pushrod exactly. If this is the case the SS is working correctly, and it may be the "o" rings in the brake hub are a bit tight. If the brass tube is not tracking the push rod what is it doing?. Steven |

Steve,
Yes, it seems to move with the pushrod however as per the BVM instructions when the servo arm is at 90 deg the brass tube is NOT out the 3/8" to 1/2" as stated it should be. It will start to exit the housing somewhat past this point and then continue along with the pushrod. |

I think I might see what is going on. The push rod and air supply line attach inside to a spindle valve, is this the part that you see just starting to exit the housing at the end of the throw? The tube I am refering to will only exit when the system has air pressure on the supply line and the valve is pulled out. If this tube is not coming out try this, remove the arm from the servo and push the push rod all the way in, and with pressure in the system slowly pull the push rod out and see if things work differently. If this works you are not starting with the valve far enough in.
let me know what happens Steven |
