does anyone know where i can obtain a set of plans for the hawk RC1450. have tried magazine but cannot help. many thanks

Hi

It was me that designed it; I superseded it later on with the Hawk 45.
The engine power had increased considerably from the original days so the later one has retracts and smaller intakes/efflux.
The performance was fantastic with an OS 46 vrdf and a micromould fan.

I still have the master drawings from which copies can be made.

If there is enough interest from other people as well I would be willing to run a batch off, the problem is that for 1 set it works out very expensive.

I cannot give you a price for a set, as I do not know what the price per will be until I have a reasonable batch size.

Anyone else interested?
If they are then post on here, i will see what i can do.

The only problem is there is not instructions or setup info for the control surfaces.

As I said in an earlier post, I have the next generation of it, the Hawk 45.

I do have the plans masters.
The Hawk 45 is an improvement on the original and the plans include retracts etc.

There was a video made of the build as well, it was called 'Building the RCME Hawk'. Maybe someone has a copy?
I am afraid I do not have a copy; I leant it to someone and never got it back!

I have all the control movements should anyone want them.

movements for 1st flight.
elevator 1/2 inch up and down measured at the root Leading edge.
ailerons 3/8th up and down
rudder
1/2 inch each way.

I am planning to do a full composite build Kevlar and Carbon fiber molded fuse and wing and EDF setup with Stumax EDF system.

Thanks for your interest and enthusiasm.
However, the Hawk I designed all those years ago was of its time, designed for low power 45 DF engines.
The structure was also of its time, ply and interlocking structure, very light.

The model has been used as a basis for many since.
The Sporthawk in the USA was a copy of the fuselage with larger wings.
The AMD hawk is incredibly similar as well [X(]
Rather than doing all that work i would recommend building a Fox Composites Hawk.
Roughly the same size, all-composite and a really nice flying model on both electric and turbine. :D

Ahh that brings back memories... The Paul Grey Hawk 45 was my introduction into jet modelling all those years ago...about 1992 I think......the sound of my OPS 45 and Thorjet fan whining away until the silicone tuned pipe joiner melted......trying to find the starting belt in the bushes after it pinged off.. things moved on a bit since then. You got some funny looks at the flying field at that time when you turned up with a jet in those days... Theres not the same sense of acheivement about it now... The video of the build has to be one of the most boring things I've ever seen though!

There are some old farts still there who were into jets in the good old ducted fan days in the UK......when Top Gun was a great British jet event, Paul Gray was bashing out kits and tuned pipes by the dozen, Dick Spreadbury was doing well, stuff, Jim Fox was the worlds biggest RC jet manufacturer (and worlds smallest pilot), Dave Gladwin was merely a boy and the best pilot on the scene was Mark Leavesley....... and none of us has grey hair!

are these plans still available? If so where and how much? Thank you dxf file would be great.

I built one too in the time, still have it, but I must admit I've never flown it.... I bought a Saab Gripen some time later, and that was my intro to jets....still have that one as well, would make a nice EDF model now...
