Everything I have on the Blues F4 are without drops, these were taken in the in the states. Only photo's I've seen with the drops where the ones either shot in Europe. I'll still look thru my archives, although you might was to give the dept of Navy public affairs office a call, they have been helpful in a few project I've been involved in since the aircraft is 45 years old. Semper Fi Joe Chris ... "Real pilots wear wings of Gold"... thats must be why their called AVIATORS :D:D |

RE: Blue Angels - Phantom
Thank you guys! I am sure there are pictures out there with wing tanks since they did travel to Europe. I always imagined the wing tanks having Blue Angels script writing or a Gold stripe down the side of the wing tank. Joe.....................how would I go about contacting the Navy Public Affairs? -Patrick |
RE: Blue Angels - Phantom
Please do note that afterburners pics do not show the aircraft with the original markings. The "Blue Angels" text has the wrong font, and the entire finish slightly deviates slightly from old "original" photos. Seems the aircraft was restored and painted to resemble the BA F-4.

Patrick,
A very valuable resource is the Pensacola Naval Air Museum, Pensacola Florida, the home of the Blue Angels. They have a research department there with everything from photos to service records for most of the naval aircraft. I have talked to a guy in the restoration department there before and he was very helpful. Call down and tell them what you are doing and ask for some assistance. They will help you out. I beleive the number I have is an operator, but she can connect you to someone who might can help. 904-452-3604 Good luck. Tommy |
RE: Blue Angels - Phantom
Hank - I did notice that the pictures from airliners.net DO NOT match the documentation that I have for the Blue Angels Phantoms. My F-4 is completed just as the documentation that I have. That Blue Angels Phantom is quite a bit different.
Tommy - Thank you so much for the phone number. I will give them a call this week. I appreciate it!!! -Patrick |
