Here is a pic of my tried and true starfire. I am getting it ready for a wren, so I repainted it. George

Which Wren are you installing? i had a Starfire what seamed like forever ago with an OS91, loved the way it flew but didn't think the airframe could handle much more then the 91 put out so a 54 would be pushing it i'd think and the 54ss would defiantly be asking for trouble :)

So I guess the Starfires with the Ram 1000's, P-120's, P-80's and P-70's were all flying on borrowed time.....:D

Aquaskiman, you'll be fine--provided the airframe is still ship-shape. I've flown this plane on engines ranging from a Simjet 1200 to a Ram 1000. The airframes I flew on turbine power were all built bone-stock with plug-in wings. Good luck!

maybe mine was a 'Friday Special' where someone was ready for the weekend and left a bit of glass out of the mold or maybe they've improved in design sense then but my fuselage had allot of flex to it. i sure wouldn't of flown it with a P-120 at full thrust.

I've been flying my Starfire II for about three years with a PST 600 R. This is a great combination and should be equal to a Wren 54. Below is a link to my previous thread about the aircraft with a lot of info.

Shaun I bought this from you right after Yellow started putting carbon fiber in it. I have no worries about the strength of the plane. I have seen many flying with P-80's in them. I just put a Wren 54 in a Viper and it lost a pound from empty ducted fan weight. George

I know. I was more or less indulging the proclamation about it being overstressed with a Wren....:) Wow, you really did a nice job on that paint job! She looks really nice. What kind of speeds did you get out of your DF setup up there in the altitude?

Shaun I think it was about 160 MPH with a OS91 and dyna max fan. It should be faster with the wren. The Viper looks pretty fast and I think the starfire will be at least that fast. Good looking boy in your pic, looks like you. George

Thanks! Yeah, that's my little man. He's growing up fast. He can make jet noises AND prop noises!
