I'am at this time not endorsing or participating in Kentucky Jets. Disagreements with parties involved caused my removal from the event. I would like to thank all of my friends for helping me make the 2006 event a great success.

Lewis, I have been a long time fan of yours since I first met you at MS AB four years ago at Winona, even though I first believe I saw you fly 5 years ago at Superman.

Regardless, I believe I can publicly say that anyone who would have such a beef with you that they would actually bar you from an event, they have to be some morons!

I have had disagreements with people who feel that they have so much "power" because they are associated with an event or airfield, that it is disturbing that they would seem to prefer arguing and politics over having a good time.

It's sickening and saddening.

Kentucky Jets was not on my schedule, but had it been, your situation, humor, friendship, and kindness would have had me remove it from my schedule. I hope others will follow.

We at AMT USA would like to thank Lewis Patton for his work on Kentucky Jets 2006. Lewis was a great spokesman and CD for last years event. Due to creative differences, AMT USA has chosen to use another CD for this years event. Although we had hoped to have Lewis as the CD for years to come it has become impossible.
Lewis is welcome at Kentucky Jets and we would be happy to see him there. We have nothing but respect for Lewis and it is he that has chosen to not participate.
Kentucky Jets will go on and be a world class event with the best value for the dollar. We look forward to seeing you all there.

Wow, that is some strong language, "Impossible"????????

Is this a funding issue, or a personality issue? I don't know who is in charge of what as regards who CD's an event, but I've never heard engine manufacturer indicate they had control over who runs an event before. Guess I'm in the dark, or it's not common knowledge.

This is not a matter of personality or finance. I can tell you this though. He who pays all the bills says what will be at an event. We simply had demands made upon us that we were not willing, and were unable to give into. No drama. That is it in a nut shell.

He who pays the bills decides who the CD of the event is? I'm not so sure I agree with that.

Can anyone other than the two involved explain the process for who CD's an event to me please? I would greatly appreciate a better understanding of this process.

Also, Lewis, is your not attending or being a part of this event "your" decision, or was some back room committee of good ole boys actually formed and you were formally banned from attending?

General,

I have no idea what transpired, but I can say that your reputation, as well as my own interaction with you, leaves me wondering what "their" problem is. I suppose that might be a little unfair to the other side of the dispute, but I wish you the best with this. I know how it feels to have your own event taken out from under you....

Lewis,

I know what it is like to have something taken away from you after you start something and it can really hurt.

I told you that we would come and support your event this year, so if you are out, than I will do something different this year, out of respect of our long time friendship. I come to have fun with my friends at these events, and if my trusted close friend who was running a event will not be there, then I would not have the fun that I was coming for to support him.

This stinks !

Oh well, I guess Darla and I will just have to work on the farm and put the old ragady, bug spraying , rod knocking machine away instead of flying this year :(

sean - stop fueling the fire- lewis no longer flies for amt and now flies for jet central. kentucky jets was an amt sponsored ,bills helped with and such. the team is now split, no drama just opposing teams. these guys are both fine gentleman and hopefully they can get over this impass . frankly it is none of our business what is going on behind the scenes at (ky jets):D- ljust show up , pay your money and enjoy. it will be a good event w/ or without either of them - or if they both are there.

The city of Lebanon paid the major bills. AMT paid for the Tent and Glider. They were going to get back a lot more than they put in. Although with Jet Central now, I was still willing to help them with this event. I however was not going to stand still and let them take it away from me!!!!!!

lewis - i am not picking sides, but last years sign up and flyers sure made it look like an amt event. and i am sure you were fine with that when the two of you were on the same team. but when the. players have to change teams there are always replacements down the line . ... sad the funny thing is is that jet events are supposed to be for meeting , hanging and flying. but anymore they have become big money and big B/S. both of you guys are bigger than this - WORK IT OUT IT,IT IS GOOD FOR BOTH OF YOU AND THIS THING WE CALL MODEL JETS>. - it's just like divorce one day it's all lovey dovey the next it's how can i make this person disapear without getting caught!!!!!!!!!!!

I did everything I could to help them, and they know it. It got to the point that nothing I said mattered, and it was time to take a stand. From registration, to vendors, my voice was not heard.

Lewis and Dr. J are my good friends and now lost in the labyrinth complexities of what is going on, I'm now speechless.

I wish Lewis and Dr. J. would stay off the internet for few days and rethink the ramifications of what is going on and the position they have placed their loyal friends in.

Look, I understand investment and getting a return, I think everyone does.

What I don't understand is that the CD of an event is just that, the Contest Director. Doesn't the CD notify the AMA of the event, and get listed as the CD of the event?

How would an LLC get that changed? Or did the LLC contact the AMA and list a different CD?

Who is the new CD? Has anyone checked with AMA to find out who the CD of the event is?

All of the paperwork at AMA is in MY NAME. Fees and all were paid by me. That will certainally change tomorrow.

Lewis, why would you change it if you are the CD and the fees were paid by you?

That doesn't make sense. It would seem to me that the CD is in control of who comes, vendors, etc. If you are willing to let go the controls that I believe a CD has over an event, maybe I don't understand those controls, or your position is not as strong as you seem to be making.

Rather than have us all speculate at this point, why not be specific as to the details, and let the court of public opinion have at it, and maybe an angle not yet thought of comes up??

I like others hate to see feuds in this hobby, but certainly there just are times that some individuals will just never get along. We've all seen that before.
