Fei Bao Rafale (servo hatch)

1 Attachment(s)
Hi guys, I have been reading another thread on the FB rafale and they were discusing witch servos to use, they were mentioning JR 8411 among others and I just could not work out how they were getting them to fit, then I stumbled on a picture that had been posted and the hatch cover had a bulge in it. Mine are flat.[:o] Only Mini sevos will fit, is this a modification, where can I get some covers with bulges?

Don't use the stock linkage. It bad. Too much play and it put to much load on the side of the control horn.
Use better clevis on the horn and servo arm.

Mart1 Check with Todd @ Dreamworksrc he has some pre molded hatches that he made for the earlyer bobcats, I am sure you can fit them to your needs.

Have you tryed contacting Feibao or whoever you bought the ARF from to get the molded parts?

Check your hinges for any play and install the wing's hornes at least 3/4" away from the Aileron leading edge and when you are ready to glue the Ailerons make sure there is plenty of travel on both specially on the up position.

Thank's for that cars II, but this was already done, I bought this kit as a unfinished project, I am finishing it off and ironing out some probs with it. But glad to say the hatch covers have turned up!!:D:D after a couple of emails sent to the guy I bought it from I got a reply saying that he had searched his wokshop and found them they had fell down the back of his shelf. My lucky day!![sm=biggrin.gif][sm=biggrin.gif]

OK, good.

The 8411/8611 or equal to them will fit just fine with a small modification to them, nothing big, the trick here is too set the servo flush against the bottom of the wing skin by cutting the servo "L" mounts to size, also you have to center the servo with the servo hatch before you drill the screws down, before all this cut or gind the corner that is touching the hatch to make it fit inside of it, so everything is in place before you screw it down.

I noticed that the hornes are already intalled on the Ailerons, you may have to do a modification when you get to mount the servos, if you noticed on the modified hatch the servo arm is to one side but on you wing the pushrod is was build more to the center of the hatch.

Yes, well spotted I realised that to, thanks for that helpfull info on the fiiting of the servos, Looks like I will have to cut the horns out and refit them in the correct position, will have to patch the holes somehow.
