JR Programming Question
On my F-18 I would like to program the speed brake to elevate on final when I move the flap lever to the lowest position. I have the speed brake set on the left slider on Aux. 5 channel and the flaps are mixed together on Aux. 2 and Aux. 3. I currently use the mid-flap position for takeoff and the lower flap position for landing. As there are lots of things going on on final I would like to automate the speed brake part if possible. By the way, I'm using a 10X radio and I don't have any spare channels, all 10 are being used. All help appreciated.

RE: JR Programming Question
The JR channel expander would be perfect for this. Check out http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...ProdID=JRPA905 and look at the manual. No fancy programming required.

RE: JR Programming Question
You don't need a Channel Expander. Use either Mix1 or Mix2 to mix Aux5 to Aux2 (or Aux3). Set the curve points so that the speed brake doesn't move until flaps are in their fully extended position.

RE: JR Programming Question
One recommendation: Mix the throttle to the airbrake so that when you hit full power the airbrake will retract. This helps a lot in case of an abort landing. You can do this with a curve mix.
I also set it up so that the flaps will retract just enough to get more lift than drag. Edgar |
RE: JR Programming Question
I'm not quite sure what mix 1 and mix 2 are, and you will not get satisfactory results mixing aux 5 to aux 2 as suggested previously.
This assumes that you have already programmed flaps using the 3 position flap switch in code #66 and disabling the left slider in code # 17. To program your speedbrake to extend when selecting the land position on the flaps switch first remove the servo arm that actuates the speedbrake from the servo because the next steps may overdrive the linkage. Using this program, you will only be able to move the speedbrake using the 3 position flap switch. 1. Disable the mix running the speedbrake with the left slider 2. Disable aux 5 using the code 17 function 3. Turn on the receiver and replace the speedbrake servo arm back on the servo so that the linkage is in the retract position. You can fine tune this using sub trim. 4. Find an unused mix and activate it using #6 (flap) to #10 (aux 5) hit enter 5. Move the three position flap switch to the mid position and hit store (under offset) you should see the same value set in offset for mid flaps as set in code 66. This defines the kick point for activating the mix. 6. Move the three position flap switch to the land position and using the + button enter the value that moves the speedbrake servo the desired amount to activate the speedbrake. Use the turn button if the servo is moving in the wrong direction. |
RE: JR Programming Question
Got it guys! Thanks for the input. Its going to look so cool with that airbrake deployed on final; will require extra power though.
Thanks for all the suggestions. Rob |
