F-16 setup: Elevons or ailerons-elevators ?

Hello guys,

Im curious what does everyone think about this matter for the F-16 - whats better, elevons or ailerons\elevators ? and what are the differences ?

The reason im asking is that im building a Cermark F-16 turbine soon with some mods, and could modify the wing beforehand to glue the ailerons and fly on elevons, but i have not heard of anyone flying this setup with specifically a Cermark F-16 ??

To tset this we have set up my buddies' Cermark F-16 prop plane to test fly on Friday (it flew on standard setup to date) - what shall i expect from this setup ? any idea about the throws ? any tips are welcome..

And of course the most stupid question but one must ask, "aileron" input is like in the wings right ? i.e. right input - right elevator goes UP left goes DOWN ?

thanks for the help.

I have seen quite a few f-16's fly on elevon (not a cermark in particular) and they fly just fine

I fly a Skymaster F16 on tailerons and it is perfect, I can't compare with the aileron elevator version. I did that for two reasons , keep the weight down (saves two servos and linkages) and keep the plane simple to operate (nothing to plug when you bolt the wings).
I don't think one version is better than the other, just a personnal choice I guess.

For the throws you can start with 75% of the elevator travel for the roll function, it works like a delta or a wing so you're right.

Let us know how it goes with the prop F16

try mixing both (ailerons to elevons) on the Cermark prop f-16 , u'll love it! it should do great on the turbine setup as well;)

Fly it per the instructions. There is no need to change the flaperon set-up, the model flies great as is. Really, this plane is a no brainer.

In my book an F-16 without flaperons simply looks stupid! But that's just me. Whatever you do, make sure you re-apply heat to all Momokte covered surfaces. Ak me how I know!

Good luck!

Guys,

We flew the F-16 Prop by Cermark this weekend on just elevons, and even close to full travel ailerons, the aileron feeling was kinda mushy, so i think we would be better off with this specific plane on a elevon + wing ailerons setup, Right ?
