UAT setup, Help please!
 

I bought a UAT from Jetpower-USA.com. It has 3 festo fittings. I know the one in the front is to the fuel pump but the other 2 I don't know. One has a piece of brass tube that goes to the bottom/top of tank and the other is infront of it with no tube. should these fitting be on the bootom or top of tank when mounted in the jet and which one is the feed line from the main tank and which on the fill line.

These should be on top.

center fitting - for pump feed.
fitting with tube - goes to clunk on main tank.
fitting without tube - fueling line to fuel up your jet.

I believe the fitting with the tube would be for fueling a de-fueling. The other would be hooked up to the main tank...clunk line.

Well these 2 replies contradict each other. Is anybody using this UAT and has some suggestions?

Matty,

The center feed (from the bottle cap) goes to your fuel pump with 6mm tubing. The fuel pump nipple only accepts 4mm tubing so mount a 1/2" piece of 4mm tubing onto the fuel pump input nipple, then slide the 6mm fuel tubing over this and secure with locking wire.

Now for the other nipples on the UAT: one is for re-fuelling and the other goes to your main tank (or two saddle tanks via a "T" piece). If you are using two saddle tanks you must make sure that the fuel tubing is exactly the same I.D and the length is also exactly the same otherwise only one tank will drain.

Regarding the re-fuelling nipple just connect a 6" piece of tygon and plug the other end with a aluminum fuel stopper.

The big importance of the UAT is to bleed all the air from it when you first use it, and I mean "all the air". To do this disconnect the fuel line between the fuel pump and turbine, fill your tanks, connect the GSU and manually operate the fuel pump to a fairly high voltage (simulating high turbine power settings for the fuel pump), and tap the UAT continuously which will bleed it.

Once the UAT is air free never empty it below about 4/5ths.

Here is a linkto the UAT. I am still not sure on the 2 rear festo fittings, witch is for fueling and witch one goes to the main tank and should the fest fittings be on top or bottom of tank when mounted in jet?

OK i understand now, i was wrong, here is the correct installation for SURE:

The fittings should be on top.

center front fitting - for pump feed.
fitting with tube - fueling line to fuel up your jet.
fitting without tube - goes to clunk on main tank.

Use the rear for fueling, the front to main tank pickup.

I agree, a UAT is an important factor in the safety and reliability of your jet.

I would buy a BVM UAT, or if you want to find a cheaper one go for this one from BHanson:

I have both, and both work great. the one you linked to will easily deform under pressure of the pump sucking fuel, and might purge some air in - a friend of mine has this happen !!

That is not a UAT at all, but rather a standard header tank, i wouldnt use it on a jet for the lif of me. it is a gas plane fuel tank. looks like a 3W gas tank by the way.

Thanks Guys, I got it now. Fittings on top, rear top with tube for fueling, forward top to main tank and front to fuel pump.
