I,m building a dj-3 jet & need some help :confused: .Ive got a toki 18 engine fan combo and my engine setting up instructions are in japanese :( .can anybody help with running in & setting up.

Looking very nice Chris !

I haven't started mine yet. Its still in the box. I ahve to clean some other projects of the workbench before I get to this one.

How long did it take you to get to this stage ?

Iv'e been building when i can't fly over the last month.I'd say about 30 or so hours so far... :cool: both wings are almost complete and all my plastic parts are cut ready to go :D.understanding the plans involved a bit of guess work,but the laser cutting is amazing which helped a lot :)
good luck building yours.all i need now is some help running in & setting up the engine. :confused:

The only variable in setting up your engine is pipe length which is stated in the instructions as 350mm. Other than that, fire it up and run it in like any other 2-stroke ABC engine. Slightly rich, but not blubbering. Run a tank or two through it on the ground, then fly it.

thanx for the help i wasn't too sure if i should run it in on the bench with a prop or in the plane.the japanese instruction sheet kinda threw me :rolleyes:

A prop would load the engine too much. Run it the way you are going to fly it. Just be sure to keep it a little on the rich side.

Yeah, it would be nice if companies would put forth a couple of hours with a translator when they bring a product to us from overseas, but that unfortunately has not become the norm.
