RE: DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING from Great Northern Models

sure is a little harsh since it has been such a short time. a lot of these companies run it as a side business and are a little tough to get a hold of. i have heard of no one ripped off from great northern at all. if this one gets under your skin, wait till you order from some of the others. some are nails on and others are not. it is what it is. there isnt enough money in the hobby to have a public relation person etc. they are mom and pop with a life away from the phone. good luck, barry

HI, Ed has been away, supporting all the Jet guys at Ohio Jets, you might try being a little less loud.

RE: DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING from Great Northern Models

I will second that!

The worst company I have ever dealt with in 40 years of modeling. It took over three weeks and many un-answered e-mails and phone calls to get only two of the four items I ordered! I cancelled the two back orders and would never order from them again!!

RE: DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING from Great Northern Models

I would hope that my word on this site would have a little creedance considering I buy about $15,000 to $20,000 a year from the various business' that support our hobby. I have seen the very best (Dreamworks, BVM, Artes, and others) to the mediocre, and the worst (Planes Plus).

I have dined with Kevin and Ed, empathized with them during their various family tragedies over the years ( a lost pregnancy, and a lost family member) and I have sent them all the business that made sense for me to give them, and they have come through with some pretty weird requests from me.

There is no question in my mind that they are people of integrity.

And while every now and then, one of us might not get the best of deals, or treated the best, or even fairly, I think it is grossly unfair to come on here and try to sway RCU Readers from using Great Northern as a resource for our little segment of the hobby.

If you need something that bad, call one of your jet buds, or put something up on RCU asking to borrow that something.

At any given time I've got hundreds of dollars of hobby stuff out on loan to my friends, a few of them might come right in this thread and tell you that they are said friends. You might be surprised how asking for help amongst those in these forums might get you everything you need. And most, in return, all they want is for you to pay it forward.

I hope you consider what I've written here, apologize to GNM, and tell me what you need, or had ordered, I might have it here and I'll overnight it to you on loan, and if it makes sense, I might just give it to you, as some have done for me.

Sean

I agree with most of the posters above - give them a break. You can't always attend jet flies and pack orders simultaneously. This niche of the hobby is too small to start making enemies. [8D]

..........That's good. Sometimes it's better to "loose" certain types of customers..........At least that's what I learned a long time ago.

I've dealt with Great Northern for many years and I have been pleased with their performance. Some of the merchandise that they offer is a little hard to get from their supplier consistently. On top of all this, GNM is a side business. You can't expect ANYBODY to support a family with a few orders a week. Chill out my friend, Ed is a good guy.....For a Canadian:D:D

John

Sean, You are an absolutely stand up guy !! For some odd reason, there are some real incredible modelers from Texas who have helped me out of the blue without having ever met me !!! Being a business owner myself, I am fully aware of delays and sometimes life just gets in the way of my hobby. Relax a bit , listen to what Sean said and reply !! Eric;)
