....in flight? What´s the way the canards go to each side?

Is the configuration "in flight" and "start/landing" different? Can you tell me your expierences?

Is the model able to fly without steerable canards?

Hello again Jair.
I was flying my Eurosport in near calm conditions yesterday for the first time. This jet is amazing fun, such a wide flight envelope
The canards are set only for pitch control. They have no effect on roll. Impossible as only one 8411 drives both canards. I do not switch mine for take off and landing. I have mine set to where the instruction state for neutral and the movements set as per instructions and I find that this gave a perfect feel and near perfect trim from new.
The movements are very small I believe 30mm down and 15mm up so I do not see a problem to fly without them, but the agility of this model is half the fun so i would make them work

Hi Ali,

My friend's portside wing wing is slightly misaligned and needs to press fit downwards so that the wing root will mate with the fuselage side root. Is this common to all kits or is this a unique problem? Also.. if in the affermative what have the rest of the guys who own this plane did? Would the wing fall into place once the locating pins on the wing root are mated to the fuselage?

Hope you have some answers to these questions.

Thanks

Regards

Hi Ali,

your canards are only switch on while flying?
No function for take off and landing?

regards,
jair

Reuben,
Yes....when you put the locating pin in the wing it will align the wing to the fuse. You may have to sand the wing root a bit to get it to mate with the fuse tight without any gaps. Make sure you add the ply doubler to the fuse and the wing at the locating pin.

Jair,
The canards are mixed to the elevator and are functioning all the time. For initial flights set the canard mix as follows:
15mm Up elevator
10mm Down elevator
Set the elevon throws as per the manual and add in about 30% expo. I now have approx 40 flights on mine and I am experimenting with more canard throw but the above settings are a good place to start. You can also set a mix on a switch so the canard trailing edge drops 5mm for shorter takeoffs but really is not necessary as the plane rotates in approx 150 ft.
Also make sure you follow the canard Mods posted here in an earlier Eurosport thread along with the wing mods.
You will LOVE this plane!
Regards,
Todd

Canards?

I'm building an SU27..., and thought about canards. My question is the set up-since you answered JAIR's question-do they work: elevator up/canard L.E. down-and vice versa?

Woops...just re-read your post...NO!

Up elevator would be leading edge of the canard UP.

Has anybody had any bad experiences with canards?. I use full throws in my xxl. It takes off better and even lands without any bounce.
Because its a delta wing, when the speed brake is deployed it drops the nose, but when I mix speed brake with full
canard it piches the nose up and lands better.

Hi Todd,

can you tell me just in one sentence how you modified the canards?
Reinforcing of the gear plate is clear...

I think I will receive my ES in the middle of April-than I´d like to build very fast and go flying in may!!!
have a nice day,
jair

Very good mods!
Do you know if there is a hobbyshop, where I can order the canard horn and this superb servo controll horn? price?

Jair,

The servo horn is a Hanger 9 aluminum machined horn from Horizon Hobby, see here: http://horizon.hobbyshopnow.com/prod...p?prod=HAN3570

And the custom machined canard arms can be purchased from Todd Walters, his contact info is:

USA
Phone: (330) 427-0430
Fax: (330) 427-0430
E-mail: [email protected]

I believe the canard arms are 25.00 + shipping. The bearings in the "P" brackets are 6mmx12mm duratrax bearings but any bearing that size will work.
