Canopy making

I have been making canopy for plane with molds with no problem, using thermo-plastic. But I have problem with static electricity, does anyone have a product to apply or spray on the plastic to stop this static. Kelly

Kelly, my son and I have been pulling canopies for several years and had the same problem with static picking up dust particles from time to time. We started cleaning both the plastic and the plug with a heavy spray of Windex and wiping it off dry and clean with a clean Bounty paper towel just before we started heating the plastic for the pull. That seemed to work better than anything we've found so far. We don't try to pull canopies when the wind is really blowing here in Lubbock, TX because it really seems to build static fast when that happens. Other than the Windex cleaning, I've not found much else that stops it very well.

Good luck.

Regards, Les

Kelly,

Several years ago I used an anti-static spray for electronics, that I found at Radio Shack, on a plug to reduce the static while polishing. The product came in a spray bottle and seemed like water, but did reduce the static. I'm not sure if they still stock it, but you can take a look.
