A bit off topic, but has anyone seen those large Dodge vans used for our toys? They look like they could hold a full garage. I have seen many of them used as work vans around and was wondering if there was any feedback. Scott

Hey Scott, they are called Sprinter by Dodge. A good looking van with that Euro look. I have heard good things( drivetrain wise) about them. I'm sure you could custom build some shelving that would work for the jets. Kind of like Joey C's but taller:D

One other option

U could always get a Motor Home with very Large bays that could hold ur jets and tools. Then you wouldn't need a trailer just tow ur car if u want to explore or buy a scooter.

Typically U will need a Large Class A diesel Pusher.

Just a thought not the 1st time we have had this conversation.

HI all I have a Wells Cargo Cycle trailer at 2200lbs dry and 3000lbs(average jet stuff) fully loaded, tandem axle( the only way to go) and towed by my GMC Safari cargo van. I have had it for 7 years and have been all over USA with it . It towes so light, you have to check the mirrow to see if it is still their. It also tracks great, never a sway. The brakes are also great, actually better than the van.

I have a 6 X 10 Haulmark that I had lowered to fit in the garage due to the HOA rules. It's in the 1800lb range. The Caravan pulls it well but it wasn't my first choice for a tow vehicle. One of the biggest annoyance in this hobbyfor me(other than repairs[:@]) is loading and unloading. I would never feel comfortable leaving all my stuff sitting outside in the trailer due to possible theft and weather/humidity effects so parking it in the garage makes it easy on my mind. Of course a trailer that's two or three feet taller would be nice too but you can't have everything.

I'm not sure what Marty did, but we ordered our trailer from Wells Cargo 6" shorter. At the time I had an Oldsmobile Silhouette and Steven had a Ford Explorer
buy having them lower it, the roof line of the trailer was more in line with the roof line of the tow vehicle and made it tow better. Now with the house we have it also
fits in the garage. Wells Cargo simply took 6" off of the height and left the suspension as is. It did not cost any extra to have them make it a custom height.

Like Dawn said, I ordered it from Haulmark that way. Initially the dealer told me to just give him the height I wanted but then he was told you could only shorten it in 6" increments. The standard height was 87" and dropping it to 81" would have cut it too close to clear my garage opening so I had it dropped a ft. to 75"

You should be glad you lowered it that much. From what I can see with my trailer vs. the one we have for work, there is a BIG difference in performance with smaller tow vehicles when the trailer sticks up past the car significantly. The trailer at work is about a foot taller than mine, but a bit lighter actually. That extra height above the car's roof makes it much harder for the car to pull and results in a lot more side-to-side motion of the trailer. That motion is transfered to the car and it makes the ride much more tiring. My trailer, because it fits right in behind the car, tows much more easily and on long trips, you sometime forget its back there...

Good point. I know it was the only decision for my situation. I'm only jealous of the guys with the nice tall walk in trailers especially whenever I bang my head in mine[:@].

Earlier Steve said you fit five jets in your 6 X 10 and could probably get two more in there. Would you have a picture to post that shows your setup? It sounds very sapce efficient.

If weight is a big issue for you and you are willing to spend more $$$ get a Featherlite trialer.They are all alluminum,you can even get the floor alluminum.I have puuled a 24 ft Featherlite car trailer,compared to others brands it was like it was not even there.

They are a communist type organization that tell you what you can and can not do on your own property. It stands for Home Owners Association. I hate 'em all.

Example, you can not leave your car in your driveway, you can not fly a flag in your yard, you can not paint your house a certain color, any home improvements must be "pre-approved." They are meant to keep the riff-raff in line, but they often go overboard.

Not so common in Australia, generally if you wish to paint your house a colour so it's clearly visible from the planet Venus you are free to do so. Unfortunately some people do! [:o] - John.
