Want to do something different
Guys,
I am wanting to do something different, something that you don't see everyday. I want to do something "sport like" and "scale like" at the same time. I have been really thinking of doing a SM MB339 with a custom "sport" paint job....scale outlines with a lively sport color scheme. I am also considering the Super Scorpion with a "scale" type scheme. So, opposite ends of the same world....but I can't decide. What would you guys do? A 339 with a super trick paint job or a Super Scorpion with a psudo military paint job? Any Comments are welcome. Thanks! |

I asked myself this same question some time ago and decided to do a nice and easy flying scale jet as a weekend beater...(a Skymaster f-15) instead of a sport jet , but as I wanted to make it look different I opted for a paint scheme not available in ARF models.
The idea is to skip anything unnecessary to keep it flying, (aleirons, flaps, speedbrakes, landing gear covers, light system, opening canopy) but at the same time, trying to keep the paint job and marking details as accurate as i could do them to make a fair representation of the full scale F-15. |
RE: Want to do something different
I'm going to have to go with the Red Bull MB-339.

I'm sure this is nowhere near as "trick" as you're going to do, but ............
Its a DL MB-339. Jim |
RE: Want to do something different
I reckon it often works better to do a military type scheme on a sports model rather than a sports scheme on a scale model.
People will always wonder why you did a scale model in a sports scheme but probably not the other way around :) Rgds, Mark |

A7Bldr,
That looks great, nothing wrong there! I am Taking Chads recommendation on the Red Bull Scheme. It is simply one of the best I have ever seen. Easy to see, bright colors! As an aside, I have officially given my CC information and the 339 is on the way.... |
RE: Want to do something different
A theme scheme on SOME scale model's is ok,
as the scale paint job for that aircraft is designed......... NOT TO BE EASILY SEEN..... Anybody remember the sabb Draken done in Miller genuine draft colors??? way cool... heck you could get sponsored!!!! |
