RE: Com. Flash
Hey George, cool flag! :D
You're exactly right, make sure the CG is not AFT! Mine is actually foward and it doesn't seem to hurt it a bit, but it does make landing easier. Andy Kane also told me that the flaps can blank the stab at some attitudes during landing, so you should limit the flap throw to no more than listed in the manual. There was a Flash at Liberty Jets that had some real issues landing, and I think the owner was not happy with the airplane, but mine is a blast to fly, and land. The last time we went out to Ft. Pickett, I shot touch-and-goes until I ran it out of fuel I was having so much fun. The dead-stick landing was no big deal either. I think I flew for about an hour and a half before it finally ran out... Man that P-120SE really sips the fuel! :) Keep your head down over there my friend! Bob |
RE: Com. Flash
There are 8 of us in the Southern California area flying them with the Titan SE. It is the best flying jet I have ever flown! It is as fast as ANY sport jet out there and with the unique flap and substantial airfoil make it a pleasure to land. With the gear and flaps down I come over the threshold with 35% power, then cut the power and the plane decelerates NOW and settles right in on the runway. It is as close to landing a prop plane as I've ever had in a jet.
It is a tough airframe too. It is up to the task for snaps, spins, hard G's and everything I've thrown at it. As far as knife edge, again I've never flown a jet that did it better. I've got an 8411 on the rudder and about 1 1/4" of travel. I typically do aerobatics and knife edge passes at about 140 and it will climb on KE easily at that speed or higher. I've got about 3% same direction aileron mix and no elevator and when I give rudder I get pure yaw. I get 8-9 minute flights with the wing tank and the Titan and about 5 minutes of smoke with 48oz of superdri.:D BTW, that is with the throttle stick pushed forward...30% power...PALeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese...it is a JET!;) |
RE: Com. Flash
Wish I could get a 20 min flight with the stick in the,"I'VE GOTTA PAIR POSITION". :D TITAN SE RULES..... |
RE: Com. Flash
I have a Flash with a Ram 1000. The flight time is set for 8 min and land with a average throtle position balls out. I end up with about 3/4 '' fuel left in the main tank. The Flash is the only jet i have owned that has not been a BVM Jet. This plane is fast and the best pattern plane i've flown. Great job Comp Arf. I do wish the wing and door system copied the lighting.

RE: Com. Flash
Make sure you wick some thin and med CA on the seamline of the flaps.... One of mine did a DLAM today... All is fixed and stronger than new.... I did have the power above 30% though!!!;) |
RE: Com. Flash
can anyone tell me why my flash wing tucks under when i do some tight turns, it not the first time its happened then on the fourth time i was unable to save it, I had just come out of a knife edge run and it was flying fast enought i don'nt have massive aileron contols Iam at a loss as to what happened [:o]

RE: Com. Flash
([sm=72_72.gif] every now and then on a tight turn the wing would tuck under[sm=71_71.gif] ) I have thought long and hard as to why my flash crashed and have come to the conclusion that the most likely cause was the Futaba MAS10 may not have been up to the job with two DS8411 servos on the elevators, power supply was two 7.2 2200 Thunder Power lipos Though a emcotec bic switch then to the Rx then to the servos there was no separate battery supply to the MAS-10[sm=spinnyeyes.gif] |

RE: Com. Flash
will the titan se fit in the stock bypass . i am building three more at this time and still trying to decide on what power plants. The one i am flying now has a ram 1000 installed in the stock bypass.
any thoughts Mike Kirby CD Blue Grass Jet Jam |

RE: Com. Flash
thanks for the info. i am still trying to decide between a p-120 se and a titan se . Two of the flashes are for customers and they are going with the p-120 se
thanks Mike |
RE: Com. Flash
ORIGINAL: AFTERBURNER1 Smoke system install.... Titan SE!!! Is your lower bypass cover just not there for that picture, or do you fly without it? I've heard that the bypass is maybe not needed. I was thinking of not using it. I am installing a smoke system similar to yours so I won't be using the inlet joiner either. Are there any precautions I need to beware of if I don't use the inlet joiner or lower bypass cover? I'm using the Artes 120 Eagle if that makes any difference. Sorry for such a basic question, but I'm new to turbines. Thanks, Jim |
RE: Com. Flash
Guys,
My friend has a Flash with a P120 in the bypass, and its plenty fast !! my question is - 1. with the Titan SE - are you performing full throttle passes ? is it not too first to be considered safe ? 2. does anyone know a trick to add smoke tanks with the bypass included ? |

RE: Com. Flash
Hamm,
If you don't use the inlet joiner you have essentially done away with the bypass so you don't need the bottom or for that matter the top of the bypass either. |
