Countersinking Poly-Ply Screws

I'm getting mixed results using the countersink provided with the screws. The bit wants to chatter in the tool and my surface looks like it was built by a Russian tractor factory. Some fasteners higher than others. Any tips on the procedure?

Mike, I use a drememl counter sink bit 9don't have a clue which number it is). It is cone shaped at about 100 degrees and I counter sink by turning it with my finger, not the dremel tool. The dremel tool is just too aggresive for me, of course I can also say I am the one pushing down on it.

countersinks

Mike,
Do it by hand. Turn the countersink until the cutting edge is flush with the f/g.

I won't use the countersink in a Dremel, because of the very poor speed control in the Dremels I have. Instead, I use my Black & Decker Minicraft - it's sorta Dremel-sized, but way better IMO -- a full 3 jaw chuck with key, and extremely good "infinite" speed control.

What's the matter guys? Don't you have surgeon like control of your . . . dremel? LOL!

Hey Kero, I appreciate it buddy. I used to have around 4 of the BVM counter sinks and they work great, but as time goes by, people borrow items and tools at a jet meet which you never get back, if you know what I mean. I have just never ordered any more, hence why I use the dremel part. I guess that quialifies me for the lazy man category.

They are the heat though. Being as this one I have works, I have never repursued getting any more.

Thank's a bunch.

John
