I f you are concerned about air loss get yourself a Tamjets gear failsafe this will activate the gear at a loss of pressure.
If this is your first jet make it as easy as possible, do not go for complicated setups as this will confuse you when the time arises to fix a problem.
Do you have people in your area to help if not give me call.

hi,
i have the tamjets gear failsafe and a 2.4 mc24 graupner .my question if you can help or anybody else is how do i connect the device since on fej f16 the doors must get a signal to open first and then gears to drop.?when pressure drops to 50psi that is. i have the jetronics dual valves for gears and doors so each one has its own supply of air for down/open motion. the failsafe device has only one air input/output.i have connected the airlines with T and star fittings but i loose air from valves relief nipple....i am confused...any ideas?thanks..lookie

there is only one channel used for gear/doors and that's the gear channel of the RX, you only need one hook up, the failsafe goes between the RX and the sequencer (or the servo if you use a valve like the UP3).

you also don't need separate bottles for the doors/gear, use one for doors/gear and the other for brakes.

if you're loosing air from the Jettronics valves make sure you have the lines fully inserted and you have the valves programmed right.

Can someone tell me how to set up the orbit door sequencer with a futaba transmitter?

Get everything working before installing the the tam failsafe. It only needs one input and output, but it has two outputs if needed, labeled aux. If your gear is working without the failsafe when you hit the switch, then place the tamsafe in line before the sequencers/gear train, right after the radio. when programmed, it will send the exact gear down signal that your radio sends if needed, and it will keep you from raising your gear on power up because it doesn't arm until the switch is down.

I am kinda new to jets, but I will not fly an air down retract system without it. I tested it by cutting a retract line and it still put the gear down. Mine is set to 50 psi, and I charge to 100 before flight. It was good advice I got from Chad at Sin City Jets when I got going.

Hello,
As regarding the throws specified on the FEJ manual for the ailerons, elevator and rudder. These are full throw (up and down together total thorw)?
Or throw up and throw down?

I mean the bellows throws are correct:
Ailerons: 15mm up, 15mm down
Elevator: 50mm up, 50mm down
Rudder: 25mm right, 25mm left
Flaps instance: 15mm down

How about the exponential?
If I go for the following, are these OK:
Elevator: 20% exp
Ailerons: 30% exp
Rudder: 30% exp

Regards
Vince

Due to geometry of the servo/servo arm an expo of 30% gives linear control movement. more then 30% gives a softening of the stick in the center, less then 30% gives more movement at center stick. so if you add expo to soften the center, you need to go more then 30%.

hi kc and goose, see the picture please ,its a drawing i did before installing failsafe so i could get the picture of how to. my gears worked fine before installation but after i kept loosing a lot of pressure from relief nipple on door valve.i did presurise it to 50psi as to drop the gears but it didnt work.can you make out an opinion of my drawing and see if i have made a mistake somewhere?thanks regds lookie

you've got the failsafe in the wrong location, put it between the RX and the sequencer as stated in my previous post.

Just finalising my air system for my FE F16 and sure enough the door rams leak so bad that you cn feel the air blowing out onto your face:D

I have orded new ones from airpower Taiwan, but the Typhoon has hit and I have not hear anything from Dirk since last week. Hope airpower still exists?????

Anyway I have paid for them so hopefully they will turn up, so I can finish the doors/retracts!!!!!!!

PS I tried silicon, but the leak just blew it back out the ram when filled!!!!!!!!!!!

Mav :)

Did anyone else use the Orbit door seqencer listed some were back in this thread.I can't figure how to set it up with a Futaba transmiter.Boy do I need some help with this thing.

funflyerf4,

I have never used orbits, can not be any more confusing than Jetronic [sm=biggrin.gif], If you have the instructions email it to me and I will try to help. The sequencers are not radio dependent, as long as you hook it up in the right RX slot and flip the switch, it should work.

Mike

I may be wrong but I think I read some where here on RCU jets forum where someone said to use liquid dish soap to stop air leaks in the door cylinders. Anyone else remember reading it?

RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models

the FEJ air cylinders are crap, the machining tolerances are very lacking and anything you add to swell the o-ring is just bandaiding them. the hole for the exit of the actuator is way too big for the actuator size and it allows too much side movement. replace them and be done with it, UP cylinders work great and have the air fittings in line which makes it allot more convenient when installing all the air lines out of the way.

I will be replacing all mine after my experience. What are UP cylinders and where do you get them (web site?)

Cheers,

UP = Ultra Precision www.up-1.com

i get mine from TamJets or Dreamworks depending on who i need an order from.

thanks kc, i will try it later and see if succesfull.if i got it right from your drawing i will remove the sequencer from my RX and connect it to the servo input of failsafe and from RX of failsafe i will go to my RX input channel where sequenser was used to be.now the airline from lets say my input air to door valve or gear valve will be connected with T fitting to failsafe air sensor . correct me again if iam wrong.also can you tell me which size cylinders did you order from up?is it the 5/16x1 ?thanks, rgds lookie

RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models

Hi all
I bought some new air power door rams at 1 1/4 inch travel and when they arrived they are too long for an exact fit so never mind. I bought my f16 with rams all installed. Does anyone know which rams are an exact fit as its a real pain to be re drilling holes etc as i have fitted everything else in. I have added thin lube over night to the existing rams and they are holding the air fine but don't really want to take a risk with inferior air rams. has anyone else bought any that just fit straight in ???

Rob.

I got the Tam jet 1" travel rams they use for their f16 to rplace the ones supplied with the f15 and they work great...may be the right ones for your f16...measure the travel...I got mine from Als Hobbies.

On the subject of the f15...can any one tell me where they take the measurement from for the flaps and ailerons???....are the flaps at the root at the fuz???? and ailerons at their root?

I've just finished the air installation on my FEJ F16 Advanced and they must have done something with the door cylinders.

I'm using a UP3 valve and not one single leak.

Brilliant machine.
