Ray: We are trying to edit them across the board as we find them, and you should have been contacted as to the reason why we are doing this. We have commercial enterprises that are paying for banner ads, like myself which helps to defray some of the costs that it takes to this page. We feel that it's unfair for a person that has a business to post it for free in an Avitar while others are paying. I hope this helps to clear up any questions that you may have.

Ray,

No selection was done...I sent you an email and pm and was making my way down the list and notifying any users here that were posting either "mini-banners" of their company/website in their avatar or promoting their business in their signature.

I have not gotten to each one yet but have covered most. All will be attended to I assure you without any favorites or exceptions.

All commercial posters ARE allowed to:

A) Put their company name in the signature
B) Put a website address in the signature
C) Put their email in their signature
D) Put any non-commercial stuff in it.
E) Post their products/news/announcements in the Product and Announcement Forum Here
F) Post a link to their company/website on our links page

ALL THE ABOVE OPTIONS ARE FREE

G) And last but not least take out a banner ad here to generate business for your commercial entity while supporting the site that is providing you with a platform to do so.

No commercial avatars are allowed. They were not meant to be ads or mini banners for commercial operations. They are for users to personalized pictures up. If I allow every commercial entity to have what you had on your avatar and signature I assure you nobody here would need to advertise and the site would not be supported and run the destiny of RCO eventually. I know that nobody wants that so the options above should satisfy every commercial poster here.

I know you got my message as I read your response but wanted to post this so other commercial posters also know the options available to them.

Hey moderators, I see you guys have deleted my signature and avatar for the second time, and sighted rules why, but have not done the same for everyone else that has the same. I am sure that I must "stand - out" some how and easy for you to moderate, however, unless you guys have the man power or other means to fairly do the same across the board, how about a note to all of us that are not in compliance to self correct, as opposed to having just a select few hashed now?

Ray - we do have the manpower here...there are over 50 moderators on this site and some spend 4 to 12 hours or more online so I don't foresee this being an issue.

Every commercial poster with a "mini-banner avatar ad" or commercial signature beyond what was described above will be notified but just to be blunt yours did stand out more than any other. I personally reviewed every avatar on the site and just about all the signatures and yours hit me over the head like a ton of bricks. Your username is your website. Your avatar was your company/website and your signature had your company plus website plus a promotional piece in it.

I didn't mind as until just a few weeks ago we had no banner advertising here so it was a viable outlet for businesses to get "more" of their word out in addition to the other options I listed. Now that we have introduced banner ads as a viable outlet and other sites are supporting RCU it is unfair to allow these types of avatars or signatures. I assure you that you will not be singled out in any way and this policy will be across the board.

Oddly enough there was less than half a dozen avatars that were commercial and maybe a dozen signatures or less as most commercial posters already only included the items I outlined above without any instructions from me or a moderator.

Fair enough gentlemen

Having this thread up, will or should help out those others that will or not have the same questions.

RCU is become a great outlet, and I for one plan to stand behind it and the rules it implements. (by choice or otherwise :) )

Humbly

Ray,

Thank you very much for understanding. I sincerely do appreciate it.

BTW, I was late in emailing you while going through them as something came up so I apoligize for the "avatar shock" as when anything is done I make sure myself or the mods email or PM a user to avoid exactly what happened. My fault on that as I'm sure you wondered why it was changed. Also, this had not been decided on until things developed here so there is no blame on you for doing anything wrong here whatsoever as technically this was ok until the banner ad testing phase was complete.

Now with all that said will you go find one of those cool jet avatars or something and throw it up here! I posted a page yesterday here with a link to all kinds of very cool jet pics.

Marc
