decided on a bvm mig 15
after a dicussion with 3 bvm reps ive decided on a mig 15 as my intro to scale jets. its 1/3 the cost of the f-100 and a p-80 will fly it fine.
Ill be going to best of the west(IF SCHOOL GIVES ME THE DAYS OFF) to see justin maiden his hun and get some buddy box time after the events are over. The mig had a wingspan of under 70 in and will be easier to take to reps for test flights and lessons. i looked at some of the components and i cannot believe mr violett would put out such care for his customers , its the best ive ever seen including all the warbird manufacturers. so any pics especially of turbine instll in the 15 would be appreciated thanks |

sean i saw those really nice pics. Justin told me to ask for more. At least im being more realistic now. I did go off a little half cocked on the 100 but after looking at 15 20 grand ill be honest.. Wife of 24 years said mig 15 price range. It a great opprttunity cause we have one on a pylon close by. Did you look at my profile and see my daughter wedding pic? im not 12. Ill post some of her and her hubby for all to see. shes a 1st lt and he just got promoted to sgt

dustin told me the wing would be build up so you dont loose scale points for composite build. thanks a lot this is what i need!:)

Everyone I know who has the BVM Mig 15 just raves about it. Lee DeMary and John Redmond were valuable sources of information when I started planning my scale build. John had a ton of pics that I augmented when I went to Oshkosh and the Udvar Hazy division of the National Air & Space Museum.
Unfortunately I indefinitely postponed the project after starting my full scale kitplane. I don't know if I will get back to it when I finish my plane, and I am strongly considering selling it. I still have so many BVM sport kits waiting in the wings that I am nor sure if I will have the patience to follow through on the Mig. I am happy to provide whatever scale pics I have Tim. I don't monitor RCU as much these days (switched over to kitplane sites for now), but if you want the pics send me an email. Antony |

did you get my email addy has anyone ever used eagletree sytems airspeed and altitude wireless system. Seems to me knowing airspeed at critical times. (turning from base to final) would do nothing but help us out. |

I love the mig 15 and just wish someone would make an ARTF and even better for a 14 lb thrust turbine

Then this is a great airplane. All migs fly great. If your interested in flying more than you are building then there are better migs to that for you. Don't get me wrong, I love the BVM stuff. I've been a BVM sponsor ( I sponsor BVM, not the other way around! :) ) I just don't like all building, even with the arfs... You'll love the way the MIG flys. If you love to build, then there's plenty-o-love coming your way! Raf |

Timothy, a year is a good estimate, and you will enjoy the build, especially if you take your time. My friend posted my build thread earlier in this thread - it was my first jet, and was built for a customer.
It is currently in the paint shop, and hopefully will be at some of this years shows around the globe with the owner. As soon as is back for the final fit out I will post pictures of the final painted result. Room is tight in the fuselage, and keeping the weight up front is important, so really carefull planning will benefit you in the long term. Good luck and will keep an eye on the progress;) marcs |

well to all those who thought you would never hear from me again i have news i went down to ft polk to visit my daughter ist lt kayte thompson and son inlaw and they had a small jet club! i got to take off a Bvm mig 15 ,no buddy box, powered with a jet cat 60, flew well not too fast, i wont pUt a large turbine in mine i couldnt see the thing so i did loops rolls on THE flight no prob. i got hooked to a buddy box for landing just in case . came in downwind lowered power to 1/2 dropped gear and flap kept power on to the turn form base to final and held power at a little under half and deployed air brakes . That plane landed perfectly at 1/3 power no problems the buddy box wasnt needed. i am orderig my kit next week so this isnt that difficult, Now if the 15 had a 120 in it no way could i keep up with it. Its so funny i was told by one poster here this was imposible to transition form warbirds to scale jets, i did fine.those brakes are effective

When The Mfg.BVM suggests a turbine 20 to 24 pound why would one put a P-60 at 13 pounds of thrust. I'm surprised it even could get airborne .

A stranger from out of town shows up at an air field. He's never flown a jet before and doesn't have a turbine waiver. How many guys would be dumb enough to hand him the transmitter to a $8000+ airplane?

i remember timothy in the ama forum in july of 05 having a pcm L1011, p80, and no waiver than too. not sure if he ever flew it, but a comical thread to say the least. barry

I was not in Texas Ft Polk is in Louisiana.:) My son in law is a sgt in the 1/509 (do a truth search please) ! I do not remeber the guys name he was a soldier on post and see they fly for fun. Why do all of you think everyone who has a jet has to be in competitions. Any pilot can tell by talking to someone if they know what they are doing and remeber we were on a buddy box which he didnt touch the whole flight. Go to bvm site and look at the pic of the jetcat 60 powered mig 15 . I want the turbine sound not all that speed.
Goodday everyone even the ornery folks :D i have a 500X100 paved runway and a lot of land around it . I fly on private land and do not need a waiver. I have always flown alone until the ft polk mig . They have a few guys there who play with uavs and have the models its not an established club. in 25 years i have never flown with any other aircraft in the air. see ya |

hi joe flyer i have my family on that post and know alot of the opfor guys that operate uavs. a couple guys have jets and last summer i brought my 1/5 f4u so they know i can fly. WHy all the hostility. I fly alone and like the slower speeds of the jetcat P-60. Before you all gang togethr comments remeber there is a no flaming policy on rcu. Im just trying to be nice. too many egos for me
