Has anyone done business with an Italian company called Zmodels?
I was looking at their web site 'www.zmodel.it' and it looks like they have some nice kits for a good price if I am converting Euros to $US correctly.
The Europeans seem to use comas in places we would use a period.
For instance 307,50 in Euro would equal either $268 dollars or $26,800. I know it's not the 26k but where does the coma go.
I just converted the 307 part.
They would also use 5,5 volts, and I would assume this is
5.5 volts
Strange, I thought decimal points would be the same all over.
Anyone know about this?

Hi Pete,

I have been wondering the same thing about ZModels. I really, really like the look of the Fiat G-91. and was going to post something to see if anyone has dealt with them and, if so, what the kits are like.

Also, does anyone know if someone makes a Fouga Magister turbine kit? I'm a sucker for V-tails.

Hi Pete

It's quite common in Europe to use periods in place of commas and vice versa. In the case of your 307,50 EUR converts to US$259.13.

We in North America are the ones that have it reversed.

Have you ever heard of or done business with Zmodels?

They seem to have some nice stuff.

How would they write: $1,000,555.55?
Comas make it easier to read without changing the value of the number?

It's easy for you Pete because that's the way you learnt. We see it differently. Here it is: £1.000.555,55. hehehe.

Thanks Chris,

I have one other question, I have trouble converting lbs(my keyboard doesn't have the pound sign).
If I go to a currency converter it's very confusing which countries pound sign to use, for instance I don't see the english pound in some of these converters. Or I can't find the currency of the country I'm interested in.

I'm sure this is because I don't understand all the currencies used etc.

Maybe I'll learn over time.

Just look for Pound Sterling on the converters. Symbol is an L with two tilds through it.

Go to 'Expedia.com' and search for 'Currency Converter'.

Pluged in 307.50 European Euro and got 276.40 USD on the nose. :)

I use XE.com's Personal Currency Assistant.

Go to www.xe.com and save the PCA on your screen, so that you can use it all the time.

How come it's only us Simjet boys posting on this thread?

Hello my friends on the other end of the world,
This summer I have been on holiday in Italy, and i'am also jet fan i went to z-model in Treviso to see the Fiat G91.
The people overthere only speak french and italian but the daughter speaks englisch so no problema! The price of the kit is 555Euro=about 500 dollars(american)delivery time 2days to assemble the kit and about two weeks for the shipping. The fus is full fiberglass also the rib they are laminated with carbon.
Very nice plane i'am going the buy it after i have flew my super reaper.I will try to attach a of the picture of the very first fuselage he make of the Fiat

yes, Europeans ( Germans, French, Italians, not sure for British, though ) have the number notations reversed to the US habits. That is 10.000,00 in Europe is wrote 10,000.00 in the US. The comma is ALWAYS the decimal separator, and the dot, when use, is thousands seperator. ( and that is true for ALL kind of numbers, not only money )

Come to Canada and be confused. We use both. :)

French Canadians use the European style, English Canadians use the U.S./British style.

I was taught that the Dewey Decimal system was a universal system. Could be used and understood worldwide.

I was also taught mathematics was the universal language, the same everywhere.

I guess it's true, with some minor variations thrown in.

hi guys, concerning this Zmodel group, i going to build a jet turbine vesion of thier model called Sagittario, has anyone built one of these, the only thing i see with this plane is that the turbine sits under the fuse behind the wing, open bottom, could be a problem for harsh landings huh. Any info would be great thks

Paul, save your money. Get a Starjet from Aviation Designs as it is basically the same airframe. It needs some major strengthening in the wing area as it was designed for the JPX 240 turbine which only had about 8 lbs of thrust.

oh, I was going to put a kj66 into it, I guess alittle to much huh, I,ve been looking at different plane today, British Aerospace Strikemaster , this seens to be a better choice, it is also class as a jet trainer, any info on this one.

Paul, the Sagittario is a very old design intended for pulso, not turbine. It's why the fuselage is done this way, a pulso get very hot, extremely noisy, but does not move fast....

My guess is that you would have a lot of thinking/re-inforcing to do to fly the Sagittario with a modern turbine. Much better to buy a kit intended for this use.

I looked at the price of the Sagitario jet and went to the XE currency converter page and copied the results. Soooo, does this look right?

174.31 Euro = 268.388 CAD
Canada Dollars

If so it would seem that this is a great deal for a cool looking plane!:D

Paul..if you are looking for a Strikemaster I only know of one which can be seen here:

Its quite a large plane. I have dealt with Peter Mayer who writes english...so you are able to communicate with him. My dealing experience with Peter has been a positive one.

In a previous RCJI there was an Englishman who has made the Provost but I am not aware that a kits does exist infact.

So the choice of this plane is rather limited.

Hi Paul!

I have the Strikemaster-kit in my hobby-shop. It is a really big jet, flying very good. I saw the prototype several times, and it is always a delight to see it. They did a really good job on the pre-installed wood-parts. Fuse is two-piece, because we have small cars here in germany. The core-wings are of really good quality. Never saw similar in a kit. If you buy it spend the money on the deLuxe-version. It is worth the money, with everything professionelly pre-hinged. even the retracts are of good quality, with semi-scale struts, brakes and wheels. Every part is cnc-machined. Up to now I just found one bad thing: the fiberglass-parts are not of that quality I am used to.

The prototype weights about 21 kg with 3 Liter fuel and 1.5 Liter smoke-oil. The first kits were about 16-17kg. Mine will be powered by JetCat P-120. I am really looking forward to fly it. But before flying god says you have to glass, fill and sand it. And that is a pain for me :)

Hi David, that sounds like a very nice kit, but the one i was looking at is from galtechmodels, it comes in around 13 kg wet.
here is a picture of it. Hi Mlyes, yes that is correct on the conversion. but the read the post before on the first page that some one wrote back to me :rolleyes:
