Well...
I thought since I am so into miniature jet engines that I would build my own using an automotive turbocharger and building a simple combustion chamber. I have simply looked all over on ebay for someone selling a model jet engine with the electronics and acsesories needed to run it, but no luck. So I guess I will have to try and do it this way. Problem is that I have no metal fabrication skills to build the test stand and other stuff, so that hurts my possibilities. So has anyone else ever build any on these kind of turbojets? Can anyone give me some tips and stuff to help me complete it?

Can anyone give me some tips and stuff to help me complete it? You will learn a lot by getting a turbine kit from Wren & assembling it. It is not difficult & can be finished in a few hours. When you complete it, you will have a reliable running turbine. |

Building a turbine from scratch is more than bolting a turbocharger to a fan (turbine) with a can in the middle. You need to understand the physics behind turbine operation. Lots to figure out with airflows, fuel nozzle shapes, egt placement, blade pitches, and about a million other things. Read a book on turbine theory, then get a job and save your money to buy a turbine.
You will just end up seriously injurying yourself or someone else and probably end up causing property damage as well. |
