best small trailer
who makes the best small, low heigth trailer?

RE: best small trailer
I'm interested in this too . . . just purchased a Jeep Patriot, and towing info says not to pull a trailer with more than 22 sq. ft. of frontal area.

I have a Pace Journey Plus, 5X8, and its a great trailer. My 4-cylinder, 5-speed Saturn Vue pulls it with ease.

RE: best small trailer
I'm surprised to see American jet flyers interested in 'sensible' size trailers. Other threads on the subject seem to degenerate into the bigger is better, he who has the 22 foot dual axle pulled by the 8 litre turbo diesel truck is the winner sort of deal.
You guys have much greater choice than Aussies. If cost is the issue & you have some time a Harbour Freight chassis with a home made, full width body may be the answer, the wheels & guards outboard of the box seems like a waste of width. Apart from that, like I said, you guys are spoilt for choice. Or a custom built job perhaps? - John |
RE: best small trailer
I use an old POP up camper trailer with all the camping stuff removed. pulls easy behind several cars I have used and has low frontal area. My Montana still get over 20 MPG pulling it.

RE: best small trailer
Just bought a Haulmark Trasport DLX 5X8. I'm working on the inside now. Plenty trailer for me Dom I was going to say that in Oz we try to keep our trailers white on top to try to reflect the heat. I can see that if you had a white trailer it would be harder to find in the snow when it comes time to dig it out so I guess the heat is not a great concern! :D - John. |
RE: best small trailer
I have a really nice 8 foot long x 5 foot high x 5 foot wide trailer and have it all fitted out for my models. But I am getting tired of hooking up the trailer every time I want to go flying. I store the trailer under a rear carport and I need to pull it out by hand and turn it around to hook it up to my car. Then revers the process when I get home.
So I am thinking of getting a Long Wheelbase van and fitting it out with shelves. Then I can just hop in the van and go. Does anyone want to buy a good trailer??. Regards |
RE: best small trailer
That would be cool, or maybe a older Suburban (sp) with all the rear seat pulled!!

RE: best small trailer
I bought a Thule trailer, just Google it and you will find some of the best trailers around.

Go with a Pace Trailer, I have tried many over the years and researched the Pace, very glad I did ;)

RE: best small trailer
I too just bought a Haulmark. In fact, I'm going down to the factory in El Mirage, AZ on Friday to pick it up. I will be stopping by Speedworld on the way back.
The dealership was actually in Illinois, but they sell them nationwide, and you can pick it up at any one of about 8 factories. They only charge about $200 over cost. If anyone is interested, shoot me a PM and I'll give you their number. I just got a 6 x 12 |
RE: best small trailer
I got a smoking deal on a lightly used 6x14
remodeling the inside now for the upcoming season |
