Byro Enforcer

I am getting ready mount the thrust tube and motor on the wing and I am looking for some information about the angle of the tube. When I look at the thrust tube with respect to the wing it looks like it is angled up. Is this correct or should it be perpendicular to the wing. Thanks for any help.

On all of mine (3+), I've mounted the "pod" so its thrust line is ideally parallel to an imaginary line drawn from the center (LE to TE) of the wing chord. In reality, the TLAR method actually works well :D You just need to make sure there is not a pronounced angle of the POD centerline away from parallel to the wing surface - else you'll get some pitch "vectoring" as a function of throttle setting.

3 Degrees?

If you look at the plans for the original Enforcer it shows the engine mounted 3 deg. higher at the rear of the plane. Also on the DF mod. plans look at the section that shows the pod mounting. It's not called out but you can see that it is higher in the rear. If you draw in the LE to TE center line and measure the angle you will see that the pod is the same 3 deg. higher in the rear.

I made all of the parts per plan, mounted the pod as shown on the plans, and that's the way it came out.

Mike,
Not sure what the TLAR method is. Is there a reason for deviating from the plans? My thoughts are that it's not real critical +/- a couple of degrees. With it parallel to the wing you'd need a couple more degrees of reflex angle on the control surfaces to fly straight. Haven't flown mine yet, it's built and being covered now.

Byro Enforcer

I have a byro enforcer and the pod has about a 3 degree angle having the the rear of the pod higher then the front of the pod. With the pod like that I barely need any reflex on the control surfaces to keep it flying level. I built mine as per the mod plans with not deviation on the POD formers and it fly's great.

You will love this plane. Not the sexiest plane out their but sure is plenty of fun. I call it the fun fly jet :)

Enjoy!
