JR X9303 conversion
 

WOW what a setup! Just flew my Avonds F-16 with a new JR X9303 system what a difference. The airplane was so solid I would never have believed the difference. My set up was the 921 RX with a remote in the nose with antenna oriented up and down. The normal RX tray for the main unit and a remote in the base of the vert stab with the antenna oriented front to back. I had to lengthen the leads for the tail remote and used JR Rx antenna wires which seem to work just fine. After normal range checks with motor running and verifying the failsafe settings I flew it. The first flight was just big circles around the field to reset my trims and I kept in fairly close. The after flight numbers were all sub-10 reading for fades. The next two flights I really rung it out maneuvering and flew it so far out I could barely see it. The fade readings were still in the mid 30 on 1 rx mid 40 on another and 52 on the last. 1 frame losses and no holds. The power set up is Fromeco 5200 Li-Ion pack with Fromeco 6v regulator and switch. Idle current draw is .25Amp with about 1.5Amp at full "stick stirring". I held both stabs (JR 8611A) and held full up elev and only pulled 2.5 Amp. This guys, is the way to go. The only problem I had was that I kept trying to extend my TX antenna while taxiing out! I have started the conversion of my Avonds F-15 and am just awaiting the Fromeco stuff. In this one I am using the 16ga wiring with the dual output 6v regulator as it will give me 6 amps to the Rx since the 15 has a few more servos. The initial set up numbers for power usage is actually lower than the 16...a cleaner servo set up!

This 2.4 GHz technology is what we have needed for a very long time and I am loving it... I have been using it for over a year and have had nothing but good luck, So I am sold on it. Congrats on your success...

Also, with the new R622 there is no need for a reguator it will do up to 10V.

Did you stall Two 8611A and got only 2.5Amps of current thru the system? It seems low to me since in the past stalling one 8611 on one of my jets got me over 4 amps...Just asking.

How are the servos handling that? I'm not sure how it matters if the receiver is rated for higher voltage but the servos are not.

They were not completely stalled as I was just holding strong pressure against them during movement to simulate air loads. (Very scientific method isnt it )

Sean, it would only make sense that the R622 receiver would accepts a wider range of voltages do to the batteries that are available, and this receiver would regulate the output to the servos. I think even JR would realize that 10V output would kill a servo.

This receiver has a built in regulator? Thanks, I'll look into that.
