Bandit ARF Wing Alignment
1 Attachment(s)
Hi All,
I am finalising my Bandit ARF before test flying and have come across the folliwng wing alignment issue (see pics). The alignment is the same both sides but I was not expecting the wing to be aligned like this on the model from the factory. I have tried to adjust the rear spar holders (as per the manual) but with no real change. Has anyone encountered the same issue? I am awaiting feedback from BVM on this but thought I would post something on RCU to get broader feedback. My next steps will be to consider pinning the leading edges and enlarging the main spar holes to allow for a better alignment. It just does not seem right to have a negative incidence on the wing like this. regds, Dale Australia. |
RE: Bandit ARF Wing Alignment
I have had some minor alighnment issues with my BARF's as well. I haven't minded it because I just want to fly. I'm sure some people want to have absolutely no trim inputs on their jets and that's ok to.
Just to let you know that you're not alone! :D Raf |

RE: Bandit ARF Wing Alignment
same here, happened to be some Aeropoxy stuck between the spar channel and the fuselage. Cleaned it out and got perfect alignment afterwards.

Dale,
Why don't you add the leading edge pins as shown on page 30 of the construction manual? Adjust the size of the front spar bolt holes and then install the leading edge pins. Add a fillet of Aeropoxy around the aft spar "C" channels. Harley Condra BVM REP JetCat REP |

Thanks for the feedback,
I will do as Harley suggested, add the leading edge pins and adjust the front spar mounting holes. Note that my original manual did not have the wing pin suggestion. I tried the adjustment of the rear spar mount last night which did very little for the adjustment. thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. Dale |

Glad to be of assistance.
The manual has been changed recently to reflect the addition of the leading edge pins. Our friend Ehab Aljandali took the photos during when he added the pins to his airplane. RE: Bandit ARF Wing Alignment
Yes rcpete,
you did provide me the same answer or solution yesterday but most people who responded to my query did not fully understand the issue that I was trying to convey. The real issue is the incidence of the wing and how it lines up with the moulding on the fuse, not the gap on the bottom of the wing. I dont want to risk a new model due to poorly aligned wing incidence, better to have it right from the start. Most of the Bandit ARF's do seem to have a gap under the wing section which is no doubt caused by the fuse and wing mouldings. I have since received a response from BVM, it turns out that some of the earlier kits had a issue with the wing joining to the fuselage. This is fixed by adding wing pins and re-aligning the main spar attachment holes. Further my manual did not have the wing pin documented. So I have the answer to my query and now I am a happy camper ! thankyou for the responses. |
