"Jets Over Kentucky" 2008

1 Attachment(s)
It''s almost time for another great time in Kentucky. Many changes have been made to make this event one truly for the pilots. There will ABSOLUTELY be no demonstrations or SCHEDULED delays. Flying can begin as early as Tuesday, July 1st for early arrivals. The Big Top (40x120 tent) will go up on June 30th, so even early arrivals will have plenty of shade, and there may even be two of them this year. Many thanks to Jet Central for making that happen. The next tent is waiting for a sponsor at this time, and that should happen soon. Flying can begin each day at 8:00am, and continue until dark. We wanted to make sure that now you can truly have unlimited flying. A JR 9303 2.4 will be given at the banquet to the pilot lucky enough to have their ticket drawn. A ticket will be given after each flight. The more flights, the better your chances. The Auction will feature only one or two items this year, all other prizes will be given away to pilots as tickets are drawn. One item for sure will be a Jet Central Super Bee. The other will hopefully be a kit. I''ll let you know more on that later. I have thousands of tickets to keep plenty of planes in the air. Anyone wanting their own tent can secure it online, or call me. Online registration is available, or download the form and mail it in. Chris Hamilton of Lebanon Tourism has done a fantastic job of making this available for us. The Kentucky Jets Banquet will be catered at the airport. A great dinner for only 10.00. Even after you eat, you can still keep flying until dark. You may however want to hang around to see if your ticket is drawn for the JR 9303. The following awards will be given (winner can earn only one).

Best Military Jet-
Best Military Preformance-
Engineering Excellence- Jet Central
Best Craftsmanship-
Best Sport Jet-
Best Sport Performance
Best Civilian Jet-
Best Ducted Fan-
Peoples Choice (Spectator Vote Only)
Pilots Choice (Pilot Vote Only)
Special Recognition-

Sponsors from last year will be given first opportunity to select the award they want to sponsor. Their company will be added as I hear from them. They stepped up big time last year. There will be two outlets extended from the hangar for small electrical usage (fans, chargers, and ect) only. I will contact the airport manager to see what provisions can be made for other uses.

The event is shaping up to be the best ever. Anyone having suggestions or concerns, please give me a call (502-429-6365-H...502-592-5267-C). Any suggestion will be taken seriously and given the utmost consideration. Tell us what you want, and we''ll do our best to MAKE IT HAPPEN. Finally many thanks to The River City Radio Controllers of Louisville, Ky, for their sponsorship of this event.

This link will get you the "Jets Over Kentucky" Page. While you''re there, check out the city of Lebanon, Ky. I know you''ll like it. For lodging contact the Hampton Inn-270-699-4000, Lebanon Suites-270-692-2223, and Myrledene Bed and Breakfast-270-692-2223.

We will have a line of pilot tents parallel to the runway this year. Anyone wanting to do that this year can. You can also leave your plane along the 1000 ft taxiway all day if you like. Five pictures of the taxiway can be seen in post #1. No transporting the equipment across the grass at this event!!! Just fire it up and GOOOOoooooo. Jet-A will be available at the airport.

Go to the Jets Over Kentucky site (Post #1) for lodging. Traveling distance-5 miles.

Just got a great suggestion from Andy Andrews. We will extend two sources of electricity from the hangar for small usage (fans, chargers, and ect) for pilot use. We have the use of a really nice cooperate hangar, and they do a lot for us to help make this a super event. The lines will extend to a point, and your extension can go from there. The generator last year cost about a grand. Thanks very much Andy for your idea. post #1 has been changed to reflect this. Keep those ideas coming guys...after all IT'S YOUR EVENT.

A few more unpublished pictures from last year.

SKS videos and Model Aviation will again feature Jets Over Kentucky ariticles, tapes, and CD's. The SKS video was excellent, and continues to do very well. Model Aviation's feature was also spectacular. We anticipate that Scott Stouffer and Ben Lanterman will have your prized gem in their sights. Make sure you're attending in order to be featured in the 2008 publications.

Talked with Jeff Holsinger, and he has agreed to give a seminar on Spectrum. There are still for some many questions about this fantastic new technology. Like last year, Jeff's presentations are always very informative. Most of us will have the 12X by then, so this should be exciting.

PREMIUM SPACE FOR PRIVATE TENTS

The area just across from the "Big Top (40x120), will be designated for pilots who desire a private tent. This space can accomodate 8 to 10 tents depending on sizes ordered. Right on the main taxiway, and no carrying across the grass. Planes may also be left on the taxiway all day between flights. There is more than enough space for all. Personal tents will be parallel to the runway beginning to the right of the "Big Top". Tents will be placed in the order of reservations. Here are some photos of the taxi way.

Johnny,
It's the airport that's about 15 miles from Bardstown. 75x5000 feet, and plenty of open space. It's a very impressive layout. The "Big Top" will go up monday, and flying for early arrivals will begin at 8:00am tuesday until dark every day!!!!!!!!!!!

Johnny,
KY Jets is held at Lebanon/Springfield airport. The event you attended was at Bardstown airport and as you know airport manager was not very friendly.

You will have a great time if you join us for KY jets.

Thanks a lot. Jets Over Kentucky is coming along very well. With the changes we have made, we can certainly use the extra help.

Got the bid back for the catered dinner at the field. The price will be 10.00. That will give you the choice of three meats and two vegetables. Will also begin handing out flight tickets for the 9303 2.4 on the first flights tuesday until the last flight right before the banquet saturday night. Who knows...the last ticket could win it. If the winner wants to stay with 72MHZ, we can do that too. It''s going to be exciting to watch this one!!!!

Preparations for Jets Over Kentucky are going very well. Pilots who pre-register will have first privledge for use of the big 40x120 tent. Entries are arriving everyday, so hurry to guarantee a place in the big tent. We have about six spaces left for private tents, so order now to assure getting one. Personal tents will be assigned an area that is parallel to the runway, and pilots will be able to leave planes on the taxiway if desired. The concrete taxiway on the far right on this photo is the one we will have access to. Spectators will also have a special viewing section. This will allow for separation from pilots and valuable aircraft. Visit this site for all information needed in reference to Kentucky Jets. The Hampton Inn is nearly full, so hurry. There are other hotels in the area, but the Hampton (270-699-4000) is where most participants stay. I will have other locations when the Hampton is full. Tell everyone that early arrivals can begin flying on TUESDAY ALL DAY.

In the spirit of new beginnings, we have decided on a name change. Our event from this day forth will be known as "Jets Over Kentucky". We have made many changes, and truly want this to be an events for the pilots. "Jets Over Kentucky was my first choice a few years ago, and I'm very happy to have the change. The new name reflects our more defined purpose and goals. We look forward to a fantastic week of flying. Come early and fly all week from 5000 feet of runway beginning tuesday. Plenty of room and absolutely no restrictions!!!!!

Ten more pilot awards for "Jets Over Kentucky" were sponsored today. Lets all make sure we support these vendors. Without them our events could not exist. Lets not forget...Jet Central has donated a "Super Bee" to be auctioned. They also are full sponsors for the "Big Top". Vendors wanting to sponsor anything should call me at 502-429-6365-H, or 502-592-5267-C.

Ladies and Gentelman,

The 3rd annual Kentucky Jets is fast approaching and now has a new appropriate name... "Jets Over Kentucky" Along with the new name and the many suggestions from the pilots of the previous two event's, we hope to make this years event the best yet.

Recent updates indicate that "Jetcat USA" has signed on as a sponsor and will be in attendance. This is great news! Other unfolding news indicates that "Jet Central" will be sponsoring the entire Big Top. SKS video will again be in attendance doing their great event coverage. It's people/companies such as these that are the aorta of this event. In essence, they are the main blood flow!

This years event is shaping up too be a truly great event!
