Rocket Racing!
These Velocity aircraft remind me of Rookies. Coming soon to an air show near you...

RE: Rocket Racing!
They look like modified Burt Rutan "Long EZ's" to me, and the four seater is probably a "Velocity".

RE: Rocket Racing!
I have high hopes for Rocket Racing. It's one of the more interesting developments in air racing and general aviation, in my book, in years. :)

RE: Rocket Racing!
Yeah Harley, I imagine most of the planes are EZ's. I don't know how many they have so far but that would be the logical choice over the Velocity. Their page is slow loading so I didn't get all the details I wanted on the planes and engines. Kerosene and LOX for fuel.

RE: Rocket Racing!
We had two Long EZ's in the past...we used them for a inexpensive platform to test a new autonomous RPV control system at Teledyne Ryan Aeronautical back in the very early ninties. At the close of the program, the aircraft were stripped and scrapped and we donated the engines to a university for use some diesel engine developement studies...I don't remember the university now.........hmmmmmmmm
I never did think that a 4 cylinder Continental would make a very good diesel...... |
