F-101B Voodoo......

Hi Guys,

Today was the first day of activity since winter at the AirCalm Club in Lachute, Quebec. Cleaning up the place, fixing up tables, radio impound, painting...lots of painting etc. Great day. No jet flying but a lot of prop stuff...

I wanted to share with you this nice picture of tree proud modelers. On January 4th, these guys decided to make a model of the Voodoo. Well today, after too numerous hours of work to count, they showed up at the Club with the new born. The first prototype weights 15 pounds 6 ounces dry. It is 88 inches long and 54 inches span. It is powered by a single Dynamax/OS .91. The airplane was taxied but not flown today. Excellent acceleration on the ground and good handling. Jean Guy wants to check a few things tonight and it will probably fly tomorrow.

On the picture, from left side: Jean Guy Rochefort, Florent Rochefort and Gaétan Gratton. Being their first experience at designing a jet from scratch and making plugs, molds etc., the least we can say is that the results are excellent.

Good luck for tomorrow guys and congratulations!

Very Nice Voodoo!

Our local Air National Guard unit used to fly those. I used to love to watch them take off with those hard-light afterburners.
It sure would be nice if it was kitted by someone........

All Right!

About time!

That voodoo looks really good and good luck on the test flights! And I hope that this model will be good enough to market!

Too Cool....I used to watch the real ones as a kid....they would suck the air out of your lungs when they lit those burners!!!

I wish them every success on the first (and subsequent) flights!!!!

F101B Voodoo..... flight report

I spoke with Jean-Guy today and he reported 2 good flights yesterday. The plane handles very well. The CG was dead on ( I told them to make a small glider and find CG on the glider and then report it to the model ). There are no modifications to make on the airplane. The first prototype will go to the paint shop this week...

They will make 2 more so we should see 3 of them flying soon.

For all of you guys who send me request for a kit... It is way too soon. Maybe Jean-Guy and his friends will make a few available. But it sure won't be before next winter.

Regards,

Yves Duchesneau

F-101B Voodoo......

That is one nice aircraft, it needs to be kitted in my opinion.

One of the most impressive aircraft at airshows, when the afterburners were lit.

Good work guys. I have known JeanGuy Rochefort for many years at the Mars Club in Lachenaie and he has allways been pluggin away, not the type of person who quits, and now its paying off.

RE: F-101B Voodoo......

Do you know how to get in touch with Jean Guy? I have one of his 101's and need to know what retracts and struts he used?

Doug
