When to return a servo?
Although more of a generic question than a jet one..................
Whilst setting up my latest jet, the nosewheel steering servo failed. It was not mega expensive (a JR579) but I am now wondering what to do with it. I feel a little peeved about throwing it away, however, I cannot guarantee that it hadn't stalled during setup. Even if it had though, it certainly didn't last long. I am now left in the position where I don't know if I caused the damage or if it was faulty. This is not the first time I have had a newish servo die on me. The last one was Futaba and on my Kangaroo airbrake. That servo was imported so I just chucked it in the bin. What would you do in my position? |
RE: When to return a servo?
Only thing I would say is not let it cost one of your airplanes. If a servo is questionable, replace it....

RE: When to return a servo?
I'd be inclined to return it to the manufacturer. They can say one of two things - Yes we will replace or fix it and No we cannot replace it but we will fix it at your expense.

RE: When to return a servo?
Dave Wilshere will sell you brand new one for 22 quid so don't go getting your knickers in a twist over the dilemma !!
