When to return a servo?

Although more of a generic question than a jet one..................

Whilst setting up my latest jet, the nosewheel steering servo failed. It was not mega expensive (a JR579) but I am now wondering what to do with it. I feel a little peeved about throwing it away, however, I cannot guarantee that it hadn't stalled during setup. Even if it had though, it certainly didn't last long. I am now left in the position where I don't know if I caused the damage or if it was faulty.

This is not the first time I have had a newish servo die on me. The last one was Futaba and on my Kangaroo airbrake. That servo was imported so I just chucked it in the bin.

What would you do in my position?

Only thing I would say is not let it cost one of your airplanes. If a servo is questionable, replace it....

I'd be inclined to return it to the manufacturer. They can say one of two things - Yes we will replace or fix it and No we cannot replace it but we will fix it at your expense.

Dave Wilshere will sell you brand new one for 22 quid so don't go getting your knickers in a twist over the dilemma !!
