Brake Question

I currently have a plane that is using 7"x2" Sullivan Skylite tires. I would like to equip them with pneumatic brakes. What exactly do I need in order to make this work? Will I need a new hub plus the brakes, or just the hub? Also, the tire is mounted on the aluminum six-bolt hub. Thank you for your time.

RE: Brake Question

I have never heard of any air brakes that can be retro-fitted to these wheels; most RC brakes are designed to be integrated into the wheel, with a custom wheel/hub design. For that size wheel/brake you will probably need to get a custom designed/made set from Sierra, Century Jet, or Glennis.

Good luck in your search-

Barry

Hi,

A friend of mine purchased Kavan electric brakes for large scale planes, try them.

Another guy that you may want to check with, is Tam at http://www.tamjets.com ... I could be wrong, but I think I saw him post something a while ago about him modifying wheels (that were not intended for use wiht brakes) to allow a brake hub to be retrofitted. I think this was for some of the lighter (EDF) kits, so they may be around the size that you are looking for.

Aeroduke. I use the Sullivan Skylite wheels but a little bit smaller in size. 4 1/2's.... My brakes and hubs came from Siera Precision models.

here is the link. http://www.sierraprecision.com/

Great people to work with........

You can also check out Robart's Unibrake system to see if it will fit your hubs....
