Flew the new electra arf today ...
wish i had in flight pictures but here are some on the ground.
we had two sets of batteries 10s 6400 and 10s 5000
it hauled *****.. cant wait to make it a 12s system with the booster pack

We put 6 flights on her today with only two sets of batteries and we did not get to the field until 4:30. Charging the packs was not a big delay last flight was made about 7:00. Burning less than and right at 50 percent of the batteries usable capacity per flight. We will have one more flying by the time we go to the MAC.

Thanks for the detail on charging. Can you run down the (close to ) exact flight (run) time and charge time in order to get 6 flights in 2.5 hours on 2 batteries?

we were breaking in the packs today so we werent pushing it fully because we wanted to only burn 70% of the capacity for break in we were flying 4:30 minutes we never got to the 70% mark even wen we started to push it.
the charge time was 40 minutes give or take using the thunder power 1010 charger and balancer..the packs are charged thrue a y harness and both packs are plugged into the balancer.

Ps.wen we get the booster packs to make it 12s we will get the new 610 charger to charge the boosters at the same time as the saddles

I know a guy from Ohio that got one just like that!!!! Maybe there will be three of them @ the Mac!!! or maybe 4, 5,, 6,,, 7...........!

Two more were maidened yesterday as well... 1 ARF and 1 Kit. No trim required on either! The 12X was way overkill, but made setting up the flaps, elevators, ailerons, rudder and steering easy!

Hi Matt

We started to the field with two sets of batteries charged one set of 5000's and one set of 6400's. After the first flight the 5000's came out of the model at no more than 105F. We put the 5000's on the charger and started them while we flew the second packs this time 6400 were in the plane. We flew the 6400 for about 4 to 4 and half minutes landed and took them out they were also around the same temps. The first packs took about 30 minutes to charge and put back about 2200 to 2500 mah. After the first recharge on the 6400 they took about the same. The longest charge time we had was after the fourth flight started flying the batteries a little harder and took about 40 minutes to charge and put back about 3400 mah.

Are you charging both batteries at the same time with one 1010 charger? Or 2 chargers? If one charger how do you plug both batteries into one ballancer?

I am charging both at the same time using a 1010c and a tp210v balancer. Batteries are connected using a series plug and the 210v balancer has two ports for the 2 batteries. I have three sets of batteries and I am ordering 2 more sets today.

I have been thinking about Electrafying, I am thinking I could write the airplane off as a business expense since it IS electric. I did not know you could charge multiple packs at the same time with the 1010.

DavidR take a serious look at the FMA CellPro 10S charger.
It charges ten cells at ten amps or any combination of two packs up to ten cells

It has the balancer built in and is $190.00 and they are ULTRA safe to use.

I'll be using this charger along with my Balance Pro 6 to charge my Electra Packs :)

for those of you guys flying this equipment...what kind of battery requirement is there to charge? i.e. will my lawn and tractor battery from Walmart suffice or is the charging battery requirement substantial?

I think the ability to keep this jet in the stable is a great alternative if you are in areas where turbine flying is prohibited due to seasonal fire constraints.

Buck a good Deep cycle battery should get you about four charges at the field. So if you show with charged back you are good to go for the day

I fly at two fields that have 110 in the pit so I use Bulldog 45 amp power supply to run my chargers.

If you want to fly all day a generator is required for the instance were 110 is not onsite.

I have seen a nice 2 cycle generator for about $150.00 at Menards and the likes. It is supposed to run for twelve hour on a tank of fuel.

I just bought the camo Electra back from Barry. I'll start to build another Electra.
Since I use my own fan. I don't need 12s 6400mAh I bought from BV when I got my first Electra.
Anyone interested this brand new set. Give me a ring. First call can have it for $800.

4 flights on a good charge? otherwise best case would be to have a flying field with A/C capability. good info amigo

I want to clarify that it would be four charges on two sets of packs so I really should have said 8 charges.
We (I) electron heads have enough chargers to simultaneous charge sets of 2 sets of packs from the arm stretcher deep cycle source :)

And that would be on a new battery too.

ahhhhh sooooooooo

mucho better amigo. 8 charges makes more sense and would definitely tip the scale towards having this jet in the hangar during the off season. I guess a little honda, low noise, generator wouldn't be too obnoxious at the flying field and would negate having to lug a large capacity deep cycle battery.

Another option for you Buck
I put a deep cycle marine batt. in my van.. that is wired to a power inverter at the rear of the van
this gives me 110 volts at my field... I can dermel, use the radio and charge
I run a extension cord over to my table and plug into my power supply then to my chargers

I've been asked many times why I have an inverter going to 110 then a power supply back to 12v

the reason is I can run a long cord to where ever I'm setup on a table at the feild and not have my chargers in the dirt next to my van..
it's also nice having 110 at the field.. last weekend I was getting wrinkles out of a wing with my heat gun and the guys thought it was pretty cool..

Oh and I do have to run the van while I charge... I run it all day and the gas needle doen't even move... it's also nice that you can't hear my van while it's running
generator are pretty loud

my jets and planes run on two 6s 5000 mha pack in series with two 1010 charges I can charge two packs from 80% dead to full in 35 minutes
